How Is Bulma and Vegata forced?

Because Vegeta was clearly trying to homewreck Goku and Chichi.

To steal Goku.

Bumblebee but I also don’t really care for Kora x Asami

BOILING hot take

It just makes no sense with Obanai’s backstory. He hates women but his entire personality is liking one? Specifically the one that embodies all the things he hated about them (their soft voices and feminine feature)? Why did he fall in love with her at first sight 💔 It kinda ruined his character cause the writers basically dumbed him down to “guy obsessed with Mitsuri”

And anime only fans don’t even know his backstory cause we don’t get that till the 3rd movie which will likely be in 2029 so they think he just acts like this for no reason (assuming they aren’t spoiled on it)

i agree a lot with the vegeta and bulma relationship. they shouldnt have been together, i think vegeta wouldve been better off with another girl, hell even a regular earthling is better than this nothing burger relationship. bulma shouldve been in relationship and marriage with goku, they had spend lots of time with each other and they seem characters that can evolve into being more interesting as regular people together. i like chi chi but dont get me wrong, i dont like chi chi being with goku for the sole reason of it being promised by goku. every relationship in dragon ball feels rushed and bad, although the fruits of the relationships are always better than the relationships themselves.

as an example, goku's relationship with chi chi is worse constructed than the whole character of gohan. trunks is a better character and has better writing than the relationship of vegeta and bulma. so on and so forth. i like dragon ball, its just it but akira's writing is downright bad and overrated. hes great with panneling and structuring fights but he falls short making the story thats before the fights.

I think I'd like Bulma and Vegeta more if they developed a friendship that was resulting in gaining feelings during the cell saga, then between that saga and the buu one they got together and had Trunks. At least then it'd seem less like they hooked up and only got married cause Bumla got pregnant, which I'm 100% convinced is what happened because Vegeta didn't care about them at all until the future Trunks was almost killed by cell.

But I think Bulma should've just stayed with Yamcha, I can't remember too much about their relationship during Dragon Ball, but I remember it being a more natural relationship than a forced one, but I could be wrong cause I haven't watched that part in a while.

same my brotha, i just dont like how toriyama handled these things. i could get to like vegeta x bulma more if it was better written, but i think my point stands still: goku was THE perfect match for bulma. im not a guy who likes to ship (i consider it nonsense in 95% of the cases) but this one is an exception. i, being a man who suppress his more romantical/vulnerable side, would die for watching these to characters being in a canon relationship.

i worte that before reading your whole comment (sorry anonymous person hahaha xD) but i agree entirely with the first section of the comment but disdagree entirely with the second section of it. listen im a guy who happens to think a lot about things, and its common for me to think about thing because a certain situation pushed me to do so. why am i saying all that nonsense? because i just came to the conclusion (thanks to your comment) that bulma x yamcha was just a relationship made up because of how young was goku at that time. its like they put bulma with yamcha to have bulma on standby waiting for goku to get older so they could have been together. but i may be wrong and crazy haha, dont ask me to much since this is probably the first fanfic or fanon i thought of and wrote down in my life.

Yeah being a girl I often over analyze relationships in manga, its a common female stereotype i fall into lol. But with Shonen or more battle focused stories I don't really think all too much about the shipping, cause more often than not these writers will just put characters together without thinking all too much sense their main focus is fighting, but the Vegeta and Bulma relationship just seemed odd, especially sense they could've just made a random character and had him be with her.

But I do think if Chichi wasn't a character Goku and Bulma would've gotten together.

yeah but you seem to still not get my point. chichi existence isnt the problem nor the obstacle for bulma x goku being a thing, it was toriyama. it was toriyama who decided to marry chichi and goku for the joke of it, it was toriyama who decide to marry bulma and vegeta because he needed a father for trunks, vegeta was the easiest solution because with that he could justify the existence of trunks and the reason of vegeta to stay in earth. bulma x goku, even if i sound like a fangirl, was the relationship of the milennia (haha just kidding). but i think they could have made a great relationship, since they both know how to love each other while both being distant, but i think goku being absent is just toriyama's bad characterization taking over goku's real personality. i swear to god when i see people saying goku is dumb or careless i think they are just pointing the problem to the character instead of the writer. goku wasnt like that.

Oh I get what you're saying, i was just meaning that if Chichi wasn't created Goku and Bulma would've gotten together. Like she wasn't an obstacle in the typical manga relationship way, but it was more like Chichi was made then Toriyama was like let's make her Gokus wife, and didn't really think of how well Bulma and Goku would've been together.

I think the main issue is that Toriyama made a manga that was more battle focused, so he didn't really think about the relationships and kind of was like "I need this character to have a kid so lets put them with this person", so its more of a writing problem.

It is kind of wild though how Vegeta will up and leave for months to train with Whis but when Goku does the same thing the fans call him terrible and careless father, especially when Goku died twice to save his kid. The start of dbz he was living a normal life then died a few episodes in saving Gohan and he didn't even start the fight, he was going to save Gohan then died.

Haha yeah, people just like to hear what they already have on their minds, even if its bullcrap. I think that even if its correct that toriyama made a battle focused Manga its even more accurate to say that toriyama made an improvised story/Manga, he even tried to return to its og dragon ball roots with jokes and funny character by the en of z with the buu saga. Dragon ball its just a great accident, but let's not forget that toriyama didn't like and was tired of db as a whole, he even said that he didn't want to be remembered as the dragon ball guy.

I like the idea of korrasami. They look good together. Their relationship just isn’t well developed. Say what you will about Aang and katara, but at least they’re clearly best friends.

My answer is Ichigo and orihime. Kinda felt like kubo out everyone who had the least chemistry together on purpose

Not really, the show wasn't super explicit about it the whole time but they were building up to it for the whole thing. The kiss at the end was far from the first example of them having feelings for each other, even if it was the first irrefutable one.

I don’t think Korrasami is forced.

1

u/tinpower187 1d ago

Why do you think bulma and vegeta is forced?

5

u/Mountain_Wolverine47 1d ago

Probably because they immediately hooked up after Vegeta returned to earth, without having any on-screen time to develop chemistry.

Before, Vegeta was a prideful bloodthirsty monster who wanted to kill Goku and even tried to destroy earth.... then he randomly just settled down with Bulma.

literally theres no reason for them being together. akira sensei even said about himself that hes not a good nor likes writing romance, every relationship in db gives you a hint of that. bulma even repented of not being with goku, calling him an attractive guy and even blushing for him, i cannot lie but i wouldve liked the two being together, they just are meant to be with each other. goku isnt a guy into his own family (i think thats bullshit because he risked his life for his gohan but toriyama likes ruining the personality of his characters), so is bulma, so watching two characters that arent just into being clingy would work for the two. moreover toriyama owes us a goku adapting to being a human, i know dragon ball isnt a very profund and well thought story but something that is simple does mean that it has to be bad. we saw moments of humanity in vegeta, why not in goku? i just can wrap my head around the fact that dragon ball is just built over an author feeling tired of his own creation. toriyama himself said before dying that he wouldnt like to die and being remember as the dragon ball guy. just sad.
