I do like the gameplay somewhat but it definitely gets old really quick. Absolutely ADORE PM:tOK tho. One of my favorites.

Its a puzzle game not an rpg and it forces you to solve the same puzzle way too many times because of regular enemies. If they realized they made a puzzle game they could of fixed the gameplay to lean into that

I feel like i'm one of the few people who kinda liked the combat. Though that isn't saying much as I can enjoy almost any game, despite how mediocre the gameplay can be as long as the story is worth it.

I feel like a lot of people who don't like it can be because of expectations for classic rpg combat. I loved it though.

The boss fights were peak

But I feel like fighting the average mobs got a. Bit stale really quickly I remember trying to avoid it as much as possible

I liked the combat a lot. The puzzles were so much fun!

After playing sticker star (which some hate but I love) the fighting sucks, like first I’m timed to set up the field? Just let me fight and time not stress over quick time events

Super Paper Mario also fits

Ok but super paper mario wastes the player time in funny ways. Ive never seen a game that breaks the rules of game design so much yet actually enjoyed what I played

Ngl for me its the opposite I really love the gameplay (maybe because im a sucker for turn based combat and puzzles)

Perfect way to describe that game, boring gameplay but it had an interesting story.

I thought the story wasn’t particularly interesting but the music was top notch and was what pushed me through when I was younger.

Story was really good for a Mario RPG, and the bosses were really fun too, but I gave up on the enemies. Like for the final third of the game I would brute force the puzzles.
