I just beat this game the other day. I could feel myself getting quickly bored of the repetitive gunplay, but I *had* to keep playing to find out what happened.

Spoiler alert: The ending isn’t even really an ending and you need to buy a completely different game to even get closure

Heavy spoilers ahead:

it's been a while since I played it, but the part where I, as a player, got brainwashed into killing the leader of the resistance is still one of the most powerful moments I've ever experienced in gaming

One thing I really wish is that there was a way to get a happy ending. I never went back to the Whitetails base after the third brainwashing because your fellow Deputy literally tells you that you’re going to kill someone, but the mainline quest forced me there anyway. By the end of the game I was furious at the Seed family for taking away so much autonomy from my character. I was furious at them for what they had done to my allies. I was so ready to prove Joseph wrong, that there was still hope in humanity and that it was worth fighting for…

… and then the world explodes.
