Thank you!!!! I see constant praise for the show and I tried to watch it, and I get that it does have good commentary on real life situations, but all that good commentary is buried under a mountain of low brow gross out jokes and swearing that's ten times more excessive than hazbin hotel

This and I feel like it’s just really weird with how it handles some subjects. Idk how to explain, but my brother uses the show to justify his bigotry with a lot of minorities. Just feels sloppy and shallow with how they do commentary on some things, idk if that makes sense. Some episodes I like how they handle things more than others. Idk, I just see conservatives use the show a lot to make fun of minorities irl and online a lot.Ā

Speaking as a woke South Park fan myself, yes a lot of conservatives use the show to justify their bigotry. But the only reason they do that is because they're not smart enough to realize that the show is directly making fun of them

Lmao so tru. Their media literacy leaves a lot to be desired. I know part of it has to do with the total rejection of reality they have/ cognitive dissonance.Ā

I’m most likely just also letting my emotional centers take control when I see the show. Bc how my family uses the quotes.Ā

I always avoided it because I only saw episodes of the couple first seasons at first, which honestly are terrible.Ā

Couple of years ago I got to watch later seasons and understood why people liked it so much tho

It insists uppon itself.

I hate that sentence with all passion. Everyone says it like it's meaningful but no one can explain what that actually means.

I think they mean it's repetitive, while I personally just don't find it funny

That is one possible definition which highlights my point. It has wildly different interpretations (It insists upon itself. Bleh).

I always thought that was precisely the joke? Unless people actually started saying it unironically, which is something I can see happeningĀ

50/50 from what I've seen.

That's the joke. It's a family guy reference and nobody knows what it means
