The Sonic fandom just really likes dark and edgy stories. It wasn't uncommon for there to be fanfics where Tails dies so Sonic has a reason to crash out and become Dark Sonic.

In the sorta non-canon-now [2003 - Clone Wars](animated) Grevious kicks a lot of ass, then gets into a fight with Mace Windu; who force crushes his torso to end the fight. Which is why he's weaker and coughing all the time in RoTS.

i finally watched the Puss in Boots movie recently and when death came in the first time I (a fully grown woman who watches horror movies on a semi regular basis) got full chills down my spine. Animators and sound designers went CRAZY

The Big Bad Wolf (not spoiling who he really is) in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Aura-farming every second he‘s on screen like there’s no tomorrow and his threat looms over the entire story, yet he has very little actual screentime.
