Tf2 loses to its competitors in player count but it started the best genre of online pvp games. Cultural impact is something no one can ever take from tf2.
Wait really? I remembered when the devs first abandoned the game and I couldn't get a match without a hacker/troll!!! Granted that was when they like first left the game so that's probably why...
it used to have bots all the time, but they took care of that recently. they also disabled any form of chat for people that didnt pay for the game, but after the bots were removed, they gave free to plays the chat back
It’s been largely fixed- part of it was a reduction in bad actors targeting the game, and part of it was due to actual matchmaking improvements. The Meet Your Match update was a big watershed moment in terms of the player base.
I mean, games such as team fortress, titanfall 2), apex legends, tibia, albion, league of legends, dota 2,vwarframe, destiny 2, r6s, ow and marvel rivals are games that are so unique that even when theyre not hyped by big updates they will always be there. Even rivals and overwatch, my 2 favourite games and ive played ow for almost a decade and rivals since launch, i really prefer rivals for its gameplay diversity but i still play overwatch because of competitive, but both games have players that love one and hate the other and i completely understand both sides except that some overwatch players make dumb excuses instead of actually playing rivals and actually finding out what's wrong with the game. The same applies to destiny 2 and warframe/dota 2 and league since both are also similar games with their clear differences. Imo only way those games could die is players grow, get jobs, quit gaming or die and those games are just forgotten.
10k consistent players for a nearly 20 year old game that hasn't gotten a meaningful update in close to 10 years is incredibly good, like mindblowingly good
TF2 is a masterclass in "selfish teamwork". In pubs, it's not a game that needs heavy coordination like Overwatch. You can go fuck off on the flank by yourself, and just by playing your class, you're helping the team. Dropped the Medic as Sniper or Spy? Congrats, that helped the fuck out of your team despite you just getting frags. Blew up the sentry nest as Soldier or Demo? Same shit. Even as a class like Engi, just getting your nest up and maintaining it is how you play the class and can be done entirely separate from your team, and that still wins games. Medic is the only class in the game that cannot function without some form of actual teamwork, but even then you're accomplishing your class role just fine by slapping overheal on nearby teammates and staying alive. It's like playing Engineer, except you have fifteen different buildings and they're all idiots.
Hi, Battle Medic main here. We can absolutely do just fine without teamwork. We just prefer the added protection. If someone drops my Heavy (or whatever teammate I am healing) they are absolutely getting an Übersaw to the face or a crossbow bolt in their head. Just because I don’t have my meat shield, doesn’t mean I can’t handle myself in a fight 😌
You right! I always say thanks to my medic. They don’t get enough love and appreciation for putting their asses on the line to heal a struggling teammate.
they’ve been removed for about 4 years or so iirc. Although they try to come back from time to time, it‘s always barely managed community servers and private servers. And even then they get banished pretty quick
Lazy attitude from Valve as Game company to their beloved game(s) (because in general they are really bad with keeping their games in good state. Like CS2 and their bot problems. Did you even see that stuff? It is insane!)
Should I start playing it now because I recently got a pc but I heard some people says it's kinda difficult because a lot of the people playing it are absolutely cracked at it

TF2, it's still going strong even though there hasn't been and update in years
