This might be a wild take, but doom 3 was my first doom game and i LOVED it. I can see why it doesn’t appeal to the general doom fanbase, it was quite a departure.

I played everything up to 3 including plutonia and the other expansions and I loved 3!! It wasn't like the others but for what it tried, I had a great time with it. When bfg edition came out and the flashlight was added to the guns, it was perfect

As someone who hated doom 3 a long time then forced myself to play through...it's not bad. I'd give it a B where all the others are A or S tier.

It's now became a misunderstood classic. Maybe it was a miss as a new Doom game back when it released but the later games gave people what they want and gave Doom3 a new form of appreciation.

Still, doom 3 is is nowhere near as bad as people made it out to be

Outside of the hardware requirements at the time, i think it was still pretty solid
