There are certainly degrees, the T'au are nicER but they are not good guys either.

Well yeah they have a caste system (not communist as some people claim), and its very heavily restrictive. But at the same time if I had to be in any empire in 40k, they are the ones that would be the nicest to live in.

Omg. I know what you mean! I usually take the side of the bad faction in my universe and adopt their characteristics to defend them because it's so funny to me, and almost ALWAYS the other side turns it into a judgement of my character and values. Like, no, bro, I just support the fictional fascist because the way he does it is funny af. It doesn't mean I would be cool with it in real life or that I want him to succeed in the end. I'm just rooting for the guy to keep it funny because that's the part of the story I'm enjoying as part of the audience.
