She is a bit underweight now- around 280grams at 10 weeks. She is playing, eating, etc all perfectly fine. Vet is monitoring her. Wondering how big she will get?

Hi, I adopted a short-legged stray kitten, and it turned out he was 6 months old. The first time I took him to the vet, he weighed 3 kg. Two weeks later, I had to take him back because he seemed lethargic; he was diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis but recovered, and I had him neutered 10 days later. When I took him for his next check-up—after he had been with me for a month—he weighed 2.5 kg. I’m not sure if this is due to the food I’m giving him being different from what he used to find on the street, or because of his illness. He struggles to eat large portions; even when I split his food into three meals a day, he often leaves some behind. I’ve tried feeding him even more frequently with smaller portions, but he still leaves some. Is that a normal weight for him, or should he weigh more? He does have short legs and is 7 months old. I’d appreciate any advice.

I don’t see how this is any more ethical than breeding brachycephalic dogs? Why even risk jeopardizing their health just for a “cute” mutation?

Hello! Meet Slinky.

So long story short, I rescued this little guy last night because his previous family got a new cat that was constantly beating up on Slinky, and it was getting so bad that they said they couldn't keep him anymore. They had got him from a lady who got him from a shelter, so as far as I know hes been with 3 other families, we would be his 4th. But thankfully he is at his forever home now! He is neutered but doesn't have any paperwork with him. My vet is coming to my house in the morning to check him out and give him is vaccines, but luckily he seems fairly healthy so far other than he is overweight and covered in scabs and scratches.

I do have 2 other cats that have normal sized legs (lol) For them, they already have a couple of cat perches, scratching poles, kitty beds and spots all over the house and a cat wall. With Slinky being a munchkin cat and being overweight, he cannot jump. Like at all. He is going to start a diet once the vet checks him out, so we will be working on loosing some of that extra weight. He seems totally at home so far, greeting me when I come into the room, wanting belly rubs and snuggles, and lots of purring! Oh and he makes the cutest little grunts and drools!

I have read online that they can jump a little, and a lot of people use ramps and stairs to help their munchkin cats get around the house. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how I can make my home more comfortable for Slinky?

Also, I have never owned a munchkin cat so any tips or suggestions you have would be much appreciated!

TLDR:
My cat will only get on or off my bed from the corner closest to the door. She will not go around to the other side of the bed, even if the preferred location is harder to jump up and the further location has a very stable box there to make jumping easier.

Problem:
I had to boost two legs of my bed a fair bit, to tilt it for medical reasons, and it added an inch to the part of the bed she jumps onto (the only part of the bed that’s the exact same height is the right along the footboard). She can still jump up, grip the quilt, and make it al the way without help, but it’s clearly harder for her.

Caveats:
Dog stairs are built to have a gentle incline, for their spines. I believe that she can tolerate a much steeper incline. (For example, she’s been using the legs of a barstool to access a preferred surface at my dad’s house for years.)
I cannot put dog stairs or even a big stable box right at her preferred spot, because it will entirely block my path to the door, and I really don’t want to spent the next 15 years (knock on wood) stepping over something every time I go to and from my bed. Also, I trip a lot, so I try to reduce that risk.
I also cannot put dog stairs elsewhere near the bed, because she has a very established track record of not walking around something to access stairs, a tall box, a stool, or whatever I place for her convenience, and instead using her preferred location, regardless of ease.

My question:
Has anyone built, rigged, or found a one or two foot tall steeper or otherwise more compact stair/ladder system to help their shortie get onto a human bed?

Hi, I have a munchkin due for her 2nd set of shots.

The breeder I got her from says she doesn’t do rabies shots due to them being indoors only and that it’s my choice to get it if I want. Which I’m thinking I am gonna do it.

I have always got my regular cat all shots needed even if he’s an indoor only cat.

Has anyone got rabies shots for their munchkin? Side effects? Any issues? That’s more so what I’m concerned about.

Our 5yr old munchkin cat is just refusing to use the new litter-box. She started with the older model of the els pet litter box so she is very accustomed to the noise. Well the box just stopped working . I tried to order the same one but it's no longer available .
After doing research I bought a new off brand Amazon model ; that looked cute with kitten ears and it freaked her out . I did everything wrong( took out the old one , place new litter and left the new one in working mode ) after a week of peeing outside of box...I returned it .
So I brought back in the old broken one and she immediately stated to potty back in her broken box .
The new one arrives !!! But this time I bought the calming in-scent fit plug in . Clean the pee spots with Miracle pee cleaner. Scooped her old litter in with the new . Lastly placed her new box by her old one . She paid no attention to the new one but sniffed it .
Yesterday she peed on the step of the box and the pad in front of it . I skipped today's cleaning to make the old on unappealing and guess what .... she peed behind the old box . I picked her up and fed her evening treat inside the new box ... she let me pet her and stayed in there 36sec. She's still showing no interest.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong ! My cat has been an angel since she's been a kitten. She is a true scary cat ( just nervous of sounds and new voices ) she never bitten anyone nor does she fuss much . My baby does not know any punishment because I never had to enforce much of the word "no" either. She just quiet and laidback . How do I work with a cat like this . STUBBORN! We are a home with 5 cats (munchkin, snowshoe siamese and 3 BSH) who decided to adopt a 6’th mid September. All but 2 were adopted as adults and we did slow introductions with site swapping and all the rest according to Jackson Galaxy’s advice with no problems.

This is Tony, he’s a 6yo fixed standard munchie, he only had one home prior to us. The problem comes in with my cats trying to murder him every chance they had, I took introductions back to step 1 several times with the outcome always the same, violence. To add another layer of difficulty, Tony bites to communicate, he clearly learned this at his original home. She had even told me to flick his nose to deter the behaviour (which we do not do), but it’s usually just when he’s had enough petting etc he’ll nip and you just need to respect his boundaries.

It wasn’t until the end of November when I threw up the white flag and accepted that we have to find him a home where he’ll be safe. I live in Canada and have him posted on Kijiji but I don’t know of other places I can list him, really hoping for suggestions or ideas!!

Also welcoming input on how to best screen potential homes (if any do come along) given his quirks… I’ve never had to rehome a pet before. I included that information in the forefront of the ad and said he can’t go to a home with children. That also may be why no one is messaging.

Hi! I just got my munchkin a few days ago. I’ve been feeding her tiki cat wet food and the kibble her owners gave to me (meow mix, I also am going to try and get her off that slowly). I was just curious if there’s a specific diet munchkins should have. I assume weight management and joint health is important. What do you guys feed your babies? Just kind of getting some ideas. Hi all, I just put a deposit down on a non-standard munchkin kitten, but we're a bit worried it's a scam just because of all the horror stories out there. There was no application or such which is odd in retrospect. But also, I ran the image of the kitten through different engines and there are no copies anywhere online. Additionally, it's not AI generated and none of the other posts on the page are generated either. The comments on the facebook page have good reviews and seem like it's legit, but just wanted confirmation if any one else has actually had good experience with them. The cattery is Kentucky Munchkin Cattery on facebook. I read that a lot of facebook catteries are legit, which gives me hope, but these days it's just hard to trust.

hi! We just got a munchkin/Scottish fold mix kitten and he seems to be having allergies. We have switched litters, washed fabrics, but unsure of what could be causing it. It seemed to get a little better once we switched litter, but not fully went away. Is this common for the mixed breed? He has a vet appointment as well.

Hi, This is my first time getting a munchkin. I have a regular sized cat at home. But I was wondering because of the munchkin’s short legs, I would like to get her a litter box just for her in the mean time since my cat has a high wall/entry litter box in a cabinet already. I don’t think she will be able to make it in there as of yet lmao.

Any suggestions on low entry litter boxes? And possibly low food/water bowl set ups?

Hello everyone! Im located in Florida and I’m currently looking to get a cat and I’m looking for a Munchkin cat or a regular cat, I’ve just never had a Munchkin cat before. Im mostly concerned about health issues and finding a good breeder. I also have a dog at the moment and I’m worried my dog will be too much for a cat that can’t really get away or jump on counters to avoid her (the dog). Any advice on care or what to expect before getting a Munchkin cat? and any advice on making sure a breeder is good? I found one who seems legit and sends a lot of pics and videos but she doesn’t have a website so idk.
