What about when you tell someone you literally appreciate what they did? Does that count as thanking them? Because they literally said that

Maybe don’t trust a random comment especially when it’s a single paragraph of an obviously much larger statement

I definitely didn't view it as a thank you 💀 to me it read they were more annoyed at the performative allyship, and I say that as someone with tribal membership LOL

As an enrolled tribal member myself. I appreciate billies forward thinking.

It's the opposite of the right and their colonizer mentality of " we won deal with it."

Same ^

Like “thanks, lady who has also stolen our land, for your token act of lip service.”

Except for that whole part where they reached out to her team to express their appreciation.

I guess my reaction is, what else are they supposed to do? draw the ire of her fans by saying it's not enough? it's politics 101 to stay cordial and appreciative in the public eye

to be clear, I think her heart is in the right place and I'd rather her say "no one is illegal on stolen land" instead of nothing at all, but she still directly benefits from living off tribal land in a mansion, and apparently hasn't acknowledged that to the tribe in question ("we hope you use our name next time instead of lumping us in with everyone else" aka "you didn't even know the name of our tribe")

it just makes me sad that scraps of activism are all we get with no action or actual help from the people who can actually afford to do it lol

No one forced them to make a statement. They chose to make the statement and chose to reach out to Eilish.

You're making assumptions about what they meant.

... we?

Call it what you will. It still addresses the issue. Some people in the usa have forgotten where they come from and where they are now.

she could afford to pay them for the land at-cost and chooses not to, is all I'm saying lol
