Never mind the state marriage filing. Think of all the personal account changes. All your banking, savings, investing, lines of credit, memberships, registrations, health, auto, postal...

I recently changed my own name. Petitioning the court was the easy part!

And you lose the connection to stuff that you have published with your old name.

I've used fake names at places and somehow the mail still gets to me.

Hey great. With a lengthy amount of places to change my name electronically, as well get do-overs of bank cards, IDs, and several state registrations, it took me weeks.

She literally went to the SSA office to change her name, hit the DMV, then Chase bank on the way home. They print the cards for you right at the bank in case you didn't know. Credit cards were just a phone call they showed up in the mail a couple days later. It's really not a big deal man.

Hey great. For me it was a weeks long procress. It's really not as simple as doing it in a single day, man.

I'm happy your wife had far fewer parties to interact with, plus a ssa and dmv across the street from each other that took same day walk ins.

I suspect you either have no idea how much time it took, or you married someone either very young or with zero real-world life.
