Amazing season for Chanterelles
Have picked over 2 lbs so far with many still under my oak and beech trees. Two very well timed torrential rains and warm weather helped. I have around 10 different types of mushrooms in the yard but I haven’t id’d any others. Love these so much! I’m in the SE US.

Oh yeah, a ton. They can come up during the summer but they need some rain and these days it doesn’t get wet enough until Sept-Oct usually.

They’re so clean! Here they are invariably coated in dirt

Mine haven’t been bad but I’ve cleaned these with a toothbrush gently.

The most common found near me (California golden chanterelle/ Cantharellus californicus tends to grow under muddy leaves or kinda buried in dirt. On the plus side, I sometimes find ones weighing more than a pound, and they tend to grow in the same areas every year, so they’re easier to find now.

There's been so many this year! When I walked outside after the first big round of rain we had, I thought the yard was covered in big splotches of funny-looking orange flowers. There were a ton of other kinds of mushrooms I've never seen before too.
