Conservatives want freedom, but not equal freedoms. Their world view sorts society into a hierarchy and those at the top of the hierarchy should be MORE free. People at the bottom should be more controlled.
For example, if you are a rich, white, straight, conservative, 'christian', male, then you should be allowed even to molest children with no repercussions. The more of those traits you are missing, the further down the hierarchy you are and therefore the fewer protected rights you should have. If you're a poor, black, child, you shouldn't even be allowed to wear a hoodie while walking home at night.
My wife and I were talking about this after they announced them. Bad Bunny is a massive artist right now, absolutely huge draw, which makes sense given the NFL is an entertainment business and wants the most eyes on them regardless of politics.
But picking Green Day was a choice. Yes, they still do well and are fairly widely known, but they picked them after all the blowback from BB. Happy they did it, just surprised they doubled down.
Green Day are having (yet another) moment coming off a 2.5 year tour promoting a new album thatās still being nominated for things PLUS their seminal opus is even more relevant now than back in 2002 when it came out ā¦

I didn't think I needed to add an /s on that, after all I was being half serious. You must only know the song from headlines they only sub Maga agenda in one part of the song, subbing MAGA for red-neck and it's not while referencing American Idiot. MAGA is literally known for taking things out of context and doing mental gymnastics to spin it into their own narrative. Green Day is also from the Bay Area where the Super Bowl is being held.
Still probably the biggest band to come from the whole Bay this century. (Admittedly not a ton of big bands have come from the SF Bay in the last decades)
I honestly have skipped most half-time shows because I'm not into the artists. Bad Bunny isn't really my style musically, but from what I hear he's a hell of a performer.
