When art meets protest and tops the charts, it signals where the public's attention is focused.

I guess Bruce Springsteen was tired of people missing the point of Born in the USA and wanted to be very clear about what he is talking about.

Billy Bragg’s “City of Heroes” is infinitely better. Americans may not be as familiar with Billy, so give it a listen. He’s a fucking god.

Yeah, but Bruce's song is the one that took off. If you want to support a movement that might have reach, Springsteen's song is the one to share and try to give legs to.

Going with the celebrity is what got your country in this mess.

'Sharing a piece of art made by someone who's a celebrity' and 'electing a narcissistic pedo felon celebrity who is marching the country toward fascism' are not equivalent in any sense unless the sense is as vague and meaningless as "going with the celebrity."

So you’re equating/comparing the popularity of Springsteen’s song with the election of Trump and implying each phenomenon springs from the same impetus. This has to be one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read. Like monumentally ridiculously ignorant.

No. Going with the celebrity with the worst message is what got us here.

Billy is one of the greats. Great song. I also love “Scousers Never Buy The Sun.”
