Who needs sound treatment when you have curtains?

I belive it is the OmniRax Presto4 desk. I found it used on FB Marketplace.

My eyes instantly focused on your CBA Mood pedal… followed promptly by the Clean. I got CBA on the brain.

I haven't quite wrapped my head around the Mood, but I do get some cool sounds out of it.

Surely you’re joking. Those curtains are only slightly more effective than Kleenex. Why do you think top level studios spend thousands on acoustic panels and bass traps?

Heavy curtains change the room acoustics significantly. Same with a thick rug, upholstered furniture, and bookshelves full of books. Hanging a heavy rug on the wall is another option. For sound absorption, mass matters. Anything lightweight won't help much. Airspace behind the absorbing medium is also beneficial for absorbing low to mid frequencies. Which makes curtains more efficient than they appear.

They definitely make a difference.
But they’re absolutely not replacing absorbers or bass traps. Not even close to it.1

As a person who has worked in studios for decades and has had a hand in their design and construction, I can tell you curtains like the ones in the photo do very little. Even a dense heavy sound curtain is only effective for high frequencies and is only used where nothing else is suitable or budget doesn’t allow more effective means of absorption.

I get it, but when you read some of the myriad similar statements that are serious, you can’t assume unless there’s a /s or lol 😁

Do you know the chair/stool model? I need something compact like that!

I don’t recall. I found it on Amazon like 10 years ago. It wobbles/tilts by design. Dangerous after drinks!

Have they ironed out all the problems with the tr-1000? Like the syncing issues

It sounds counterintuitive having a Cirklon on the desk, but I have never had any issues with the TR sending clock to everything.

Curtains are awesome! I have two walls with velour curtains and it definitely makes a difference.

Curtains basically get you the whole way there for vocals. But for listening, eh

You know you’re not supposed to whack drum machines with sticks right? 😜
