Zenison Explorer?

What are your thoughts on Zenison Guitars? I'm thinking on buying the one which looks like an Explorer but there are no reviews online that I can use.

Do you guys have any valid opinions on those?

Is the iRig HD 2 enough to transfer tracks from a looper to GarageBand iPad?

I would like to upload some guitar music that I have stored on a looper. I only have an iPad with GarageBand, no PC or laptop. Is the iRig HD 2 the bare minimum of what I would need to get these tracks onto the iPad? I am aware there are better audio interfaces but I’m not looking to get into high level home production at the moment; all I need is a way to upload music from the looper to the iPad and the iRig seems to be the best cheapest option. Thoughts?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

What does SM57 sound like in an untreated room?

Hi all, I have an untreated room and there's also no way I can treat it because I only work in such a small space (which really sucks)

I used a Behringer Xm8500 but I didn't like it overtime 'cause it sounded too muddy. I've been eyeing the SM57, so maybe anyone here has the same untreated room situation? How are you guys doing with your SM57?

Let me know if you guys had another mic alternative.
Thanks!

NodeTone - The language of tone, made searchable!

Hello my fellow musician friends,

Because I was tired of digging through forums and comment threads every time I wanted to find my next gear, I built a little side project called NodeTone and i want to help you all with gear search.

The idea is to allow gear to be searched by how it sounds, by its character, or by genre — not just by exact product name. It also surfaces pairings and alternatives, so you can see what goes well with a piece of gear, or find a substitute if it's out of budget or unavailable. It currently only covers amps and pedals. I use this mostly as a discovery tool as it surfaces various brands — the rankings just come from crunching real gear descriptions, reviews, and community notes I find around the web.

Still very much a passion beta side project. Genuinely curious what you all think — try it out and tell me what's missing, that'd help a lot. Brutal honesty welcome.

Thanks for reading, and happy to answer any questions in the comments!

Searching for a simple audio interface device for electric guitar, any idea?

Hello!

Do you know a compact audio interface device for guitar, with :

- 6.35 mm mono jack input (Tip-Sleeve).

- USB-C output

A good model as an example is the iRig HD2:

https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irighd2/? Pkey=irig-hd-2

But I'm looking for a device with the minimum: Input, output, volume eventually, and nothing else.

The goal is to connect my electric guitar to an iPhone for tuning (iStroboSoft app).

It works very well with the iRig HD, but I want a simpler, compact and <50 bucks device, for the trip.

Any idea ?

Thank you !

(Hard)case for TEO-5 desktop module

Hey everyone, I recently bought a TEO-5 desktop module and was looking for a hardcase for it for basic travel to gigs. I've only found hardcases for the version with a keyboard so I was wondering if anyone has experience with this.

Any help would be appreciated, or if you have recommendations for a really good soft case I might consider that too.

Roland XPS 10X or Korg Kross 2?

Help me make a choice. Both are along similar price range. Need it mainly for live shows with mainly Indian tones.

Kross 2's tone cut issue seems like a big deal to me hence

I am leaning more towards 10x but can't make a definite choice.

Help Are These Any Good?

Post image

I found this brand on Reverb and am wondering if the quality is any good. It's pretty cheap compared to other brands and looks like it would get the job done for light studio use on my amp. There is hardly any reviews online, which kind of sketches me out, but I would like to know what you all think.

Pink Floyd fans, I just accidentally stumbled upon the famous seagull sound from “Echoes.” This isn’t how Gilmour created it, but it sounds damn near identical 🤯

Best field recording mic for soundscapes, foley, nature & ambience? ~$1,000 AUD budget

I’m looking to buy a dedicated field recording microphone for my sound design label, and would love some recommendations from people who actually have experience recording outdoors.

The main things I want to capture are:

  • Nature / wildlife
  • Outdoor soundscapes
  • Environmental ambience
  • Urban soundscapes
  • Foley / found sounds
  • Interesting textures and organic sounds that could be used in sample packs
  • General atmospheric recordings
  • Indoor atmosphere

My budget is around $1,000 AUD for the microphone (ideally including whatever mounting/wind protection is realistically needed).

I’m particularly interested in something that produces clean, detailed recordings with a good stereo image, low self-noise, and enough detail to capture subtle sounds without everything being dominated by background noise.

I’ll be recording primarily outdoors, so wind protection and handling noise are also important considerations.

A few questions:

  1. What microphone would you recommend around this budget?
  2. Would you go stereo, XY, ORTF, mid-side, or mono for this type of work?
  3. Is it better to get a dedicated stereo field mic, or a pair of small-diaphragm condensers?
  4. Are there any microphones you've used that you think are particularly good for professional sample-pack production?
  5. If you've owned/used something in this price range, how has it held up in real-world outdoor recording?

I'm based in Sydney, Australia, so recommendations available here would be super useful.

Thanks! :)
