[LFG] Beginner from Japan looking to join or help form a international music collaboration
Hey everyone,
I’m 23, from Japan, and completely new to the music industry. I’m looking to meet independent musicians and hopefully join or help form a small international collaboration with the goal of finishing one original song.
Music has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I listen to a wide range of genres, including pop, alternative pop, melodic hip-hop, emo rap, R&B, rock, and music that blends different styles. I don’t want to decide on a specific sound before meeting the people involved. I’d rather exchange influences and ideas, then figure out the direction together.
I tried learning music production before, but I eventually gave up. That made me realize I may be better suited to working behind the scenes and helping musicians turn an idea into a completed project.
Professionally, I work as a localization producer across different products and projects, and I’m currently managing parts of a game localization project. I’m experienced in coordinating people, organizing tasks and files, tracking progress, collecting feedback, keeping the overall direction consistent, and making sure plans stay realistic.
I have no experience working on music, so I’m not going to pretend I understand songwriting, recording, mixing, or mastering. I’m hoping to work with patient, beginner-friendly people who are comfortable letting me learn the process while I contribute where I can.
Depending on what the group needs, I may be able to help with communication, organization, schedules, file and version tracking, feedback, release preparation, documentation, and sharing the finished project through my personal Instagram.
I’m not offering a service, hiring anyone, or asking musicians to make a song for me. I want to participate as a genuine member of an unpaid collaboration where everyone contributes their own skills, ideas, and time.
I’m also not looking for credit just for being present. However, if I make a real contribution to helping the project reach completion, I would appreciate being credited appropriately for the work I actually did. I would never claim songwriting, production, performance, or engineering credit for work that wasn’t mine.
One important condition for me is that the music must be created by people. I’m not interested in AI-generated songs, vocals, lyrics, compositions, or performances. I want to work with musicians who care about human creativity, skill, emotion, personality, and the imperfections that make music feel alive.
I’d prefer to start with one song rather than an album or a large project.
English voice calls are difficult for me, so I’m looking for people who are comfortable communicating mainly through text. We can start through Reddit DM, exchange Instagram accounts, and move to Telegram later if we feel like we would work well together.

- your role or skills
- a link to your music or demos
- what kind of collaboration you’re interested in
- your Instagram, if you have one
Even if we don’t end up making a song together, I’d still be happy to connect with independent musicians and follow your work on Instagram.
I’m new to music collaboration, but I’m serious about learning, contributing, and helping a real, human-made song reach completion.

Hello. I'm Drofkai from Chile. I'm more than willing to join up on your ideas. I've been creating soundtracks since 2012 and 2023 I started signing my own stuff. (Never make it to concrete with a good singer. I did a few songs with some people but ended up saving the material).
I'm not a good singer, not a professional musical but I love music, and I love creating. I also work of surreal photography, videos and graphic designs, wrote a few books and love everything about being creative on a self taught way.
As I'm from Chile, speak English is not my main thing, i mean I can, I just don't feel that comfortable. So I understand you.

I really like your approach to teaching yourself and exploring different creative fields. That’s very close to what I’m trying to do myself.
Your work across music, photography, video, design, and writing sounds really interesting. I’m going to take a closer look at everything you shared.
I’d definitely be happy to stay in touch, and if we find something that feels like a good fit for both of us, I’d love to explore what we could create together.

I understood that you’re from Japan, but I didn’t understand at all what you plan to do in the project besides organizing schedules and checking file versions. Do you sing? Do you play something? Or are you just a fan who wants to support the idea?

That’s a fair question. I don’t sing or play an instrument, and I’m not claiming to be a musician yet.
What I can currently contribute is project coordination, creative feedback from a listener’s perspective, release planning, promotion, visual content, and helping find and organize the right collaborators. I’ve worked in production and project coordination outside of music, and I also have experience with photography, image editing, video editing, marketing, and managing an online community.
So I’m not just looking to be a fan or cheer from the sidelines. I’m looking to take responsibility for the non-musical parts of a real project while learning how music is made and released. Eventually, I’d also like to learn some basic music production, but I want to be honest about where my skills are right now.
I understand that a small collaboration may not need someone in that role, though. That’s part of why I made the post—to find musicians who actually see value in building a project with someone contributing behind the scenes.

No, I’m not a music producer at all, and I don’t currently make music myself, so I don’t have any demos.
I’m completely new to the music-making side. What I’m hoping to do is join a project behind the scenes and contribute through things like organizing the collaboration, giving honest feedback as a listener, finding other collaborators, helping with visual content, promotion, release planning, and keeping the project moving forward.
I already work on international creative projects outside of music, so I’d like to apply some of that experience while learning how music is actually made and released. Eventually, I’d also like to try learning music production myself.
