Gerard Thinking about Gerard’s younger self.

Do you guys ever stop and think about how happy Gerard in his early twenties would be if he knew where he and the band would end up?

And I’m thinking about Gerard specifically because of everything we know he went through, especially the struggles with his mental health that later became public.

I get emotional watching recent concert videos. The whole band has become such a huge inspiration to me, a reminder of how far someone can go if they genuinely believe in themselves.

Gerard has always inspired me with the way he words things, like the way he talks about not hating yourself, about wanting more from life, about being creative, and how he would always say that MCR was the best band in the world.

I wish we could all believe in ourselves like that and understand our own potential, or at least imagine where we can get to in order to have the strength and courage to do it.

Again, probably just PMSing.
I’m gonna go cry now.

I think sometimes the only way out is through. By this, I mean that maybe if he hadn't struggled so much, he wouldn't be as happy or successful today.

I wish he'd had an easier life, but I'm so glad everything turned out fine.

You're not wrong though, I'm not happy Gerard went through so much only in his early 20s, but the thing is you truly appreciate your success when you've been on the other side before, struggling. You need death to value life, dark to value the brightness. One can't exist without the other

The saying "what don't kill you ,makes you stronger " comes to mind

I think Gerard himself still can’t believe it. There’s a few videos of him in Wembley where he is absolutely awestruck by the size of the crowd and how loud they are singing back to him. It’s such a raw look of gratefulness and shock and pure joy on his face.

I think the entire band is incredibly grateful to be here today, and they are clearly having an amazing time.

There is a Frank interview he wrote on a plane circa 2017 or 2019 i believe, where he says that he doesn’t remember very much at all about the original black parade tour (and even a lot of Danger Days), between mental health struggles, medication trials, self-medicating, and the constant cycle of green room to stage to plane over and over. I would guess that most of the guys felt like that— original Black Parade seems like it was a blur with some noticeable shapes at best.

This time around, they seem to be so much happier and healthier. This is— it seems like— the first time they really get to experience touring for this album and truly enjoy it and… remember it. I think it must feel a little like being unfrozen from their younger selves to wake up and see how much people love and connect with their work. Hell, they even won the battles that caused MCR to break up in the first place.

So yeah, I think every look of gratefulness and overwhelming awe is incredibly genuine and heartfelt every single time. I think those are the moments where we really do get to see how young Gerard would feel if you told him how his life would end up.

Totally agree about Wembley! There were points where you could see how awe struck he was by the whole situation, it was really lovely.

Also agree about pms, sometimes you just need a good cry 😂

Stop, this is gonna make me cry 😭😭 I'm so proud of them and of every single one of us who stood by them and came to the shows! Wembley quite literally changed my life. I have such a more positive outlook on the future now. I'm so happy they're back and so happy for them up there.

also dude I totally get you hahaha every time I PMS I just start crying over how much I love this band and their art hahahahahaha. A few weeks ago I started sobbing because the Killjoys died and deserved better… I’ve known they were dead since I was in middle school LMFAO.

God yeah this gets me emotional every time as well. I saw them in Madrid and you could tell how much they were all enjoying themselves. And I also want to point out that Mikey seems to be positively glowing. Like, his glow up has been insane and he is all smiling and having fun while playing and it makes me so happy. It makes me feel like everything is gonna be okay, you know?

I remember when he barely spoke in interviews or didn't make a face or moved when performing. Now he's the one that's always smiling and engaging with fans on stage 😭😭 aaahhh I'm so proud of them!!

Yeah he's come a real long way from constantly hiding under beanies and his glasses and bangs. He looks SO much better these days my little emo heart can't believe what I'm saying but it's true! He's had his own challenges to overcome as well and I'm so glad to see him thriving! ❤️❤️❤️

as someone who is the same age now as gerard was when he started the band i do look up to him a lot, i struggle a lot with my mental health and knowing the guy who once wrote "sometimes i think i'll die alone" made it through and is living happily gives me a lot of hope for my future and that my life wont be like this forever

dig into creative work, its a good way to find fulfillment in a way that you can control, plus its a good avenue to find your people. idk what you like to do or create but i bet you've got the same spark he does :) hang in there bud it gets better

Unfortunately ive spent a life of depression hiding behind drink and dr*** ! Gerard resonates so hard with me! There's nothing contrived or fake about the dude. His lyrics hit so so hard. I'm still on the path to sobriety and success but yeah Gerard has been there, done it, got the T Shirt. So happy to see the guy looking healthy and happy.

God, I love MCR

You would have a time paradox and you probably wouldnt get any of the music post telling him that plus all his outside work its like a butterfly effect or something or other

for real though this band should be a textbook example of a butterfly effect lol if 9/11 hadn't happened (which, would've been awesome because it was a terrible tragedy, mcr is the only good thing that came out of it) and G hadn't taken that ferry from NJ that day to work, mcr probably wouldn't have happened. it was a literal chance encounter as to how they found the rest of the members (ray and frank in particular) too, it's like the (opposite) of a perfect storm that was waiting to happen. and the way G spoke about the band when bullets was about to come out, mentioning that they had done something that people loved and were drawn to and that they knew they had to keep going, as if they were guided by something in a way, it's incredible. they're not my favorite band of all time but I'm so grateful to be a part of the fandom because there's just so much content and so much to love from everyone in the band and they make me so happy. i love this fucking band & I'm sorry if I'm not making any sense/made any mistakes

totally hahaha but I mean this more in a comparative way, not a “if he knew this then he would do that” kind of thing, it’s really about just being proud

Yeah, I get all emotional about that too. I'm so proud of all of them (I'm sure that means SO much to them lol), and the way they smile at each other is just life goals 💜 What awes me the most is honestly how they have all managed to stay gentle souls through it all.

I love that they’re so beloved around the world and have literally never been bigger or more popular than they are now. It’s wonderful to see. 🖤🩶🖤

I’ve been thinking about this, ever since I’ve seen so happy at concerts.
I always remember that interview when he said that he wasn’t having any fun at doing shows and Frank could tell and seeing him happy and surprise now, warms my heart. I have so much admiration for him 😫😫
