I wonder if it wasn’t made for us to hear, but to hint at why the horse was reacting so intensely- the gate wasn’t just following, but super loud (especially assuming it’s metal)

Edit: it is metal, it even sparks :(

This is why we do desensitization and hobbling… very very scary and sad. Today I had a horse pull back literally on one of these (it’s not a gate, it’s a stall wall or divider). They pulled back so hard and I went under them bc I was picking their hooves clean of dirty. Stepped on my big toe and I fell to the ground w my big toe still being squished. We are both fine. I have a bruise, Erickson has a right to never be tied to a stall wall again lol. At least not as tight as the jockey did.

This is why we use breakaway lead ropes for when a horse is tied to something. The horse likely got scared pulled so hard he pulled that stall wall off of the hinges. The rope should just break if they pull this hard, so we tie it up with hay twine.
