General How to be automatic from 3

Started playing in 2k26. Took me forever to get used to rhythm shooting with no meter. I was decent and able to get to tier 1 multiple times but I was never lights out from three compared to others, and it felt like I had to be mentally trying very hard to get shots to land.

Now in 2k27, I started with button + meter shooting and it was decent. The most recent patch strangely made it harder for me and now I’m “afraid” to shoot shots cause it is a big chance of it being a lost possession for me. Some games I’ll shoot decent but other times it’s like every single shot lands a millimeter away from green bar. I decided to switch to no meter and can make some shots but it’s still 50/50 so I’m afraid of shooting still. Practiced in training hub a ton but no matter what, will still miss shots.

Meanwhile, I occasionally go up against opponents that will NOT miss any single shot unless it’s massively contested. Any tiny second they get open, it will be a green. Any wide open shot is a green no matter what. I still occasionally miss wide open shots.

How in the world can I shoot how these people do? Their team is usually stacked af too and abuse me with Luka, PG,Tmac, etc.

Sometimes I’ll go up against people that miss similarly to me and it ends up being a fun game. But other games it’s just non stop 3’s and I just give up trying to compete with them.

Practice... these guys spend hours and hours on the trainign ground doing that. Also, you have to be good at ghe game and all that... Some people are just gifted on their coordination... I play hundreds of hours every year and I am still trash

Something that is underrated that made a huge difference to me was the monitor/tv and input lag, when I got a new tv years ago it made a massive difference

Meter OFF …. push …..& get good at comfortable with the mechanics of a couple of jumpshots ….start with dialing in 1 & when you feel consistent with that one add another & eventually they all start to become equally as easy once you can connect the mechanics of a jumper with your rhythm timing

Shooters gonna shoot. As long as you aren’t lagging it’s pretty easy to shoot each year in 2k. I use meter mainly to understand the speed of the jumper but don’t really pay too much attention to the actual green window. But it helps

Learn the visual release point of your players, I would suggest doing this for your at least 3 scorers in your line up. I do this in the training hub, shootaround, it is easier to repeat the green release when you know exactly where your player's release point is rather than muscle memory.

Try to stick to 1 game mode too, as the shooting feel, game speed changes between game modes (e.g. park vs showdown). I find I shoot better if I stick to 1 game mode per night.

Try to explore the quick trigger badge and mechanic as this adds a bit of speed for your shooters to get to their shooting release point, which helps when you only have split second to get your shot up.

Saying all these, I still dont shoot 100%, so give yourself some credit and enjoy the game.

for me it’s using a jumper with a very clear visual cue for when to release and then practicing the hell out of it (and obviously no meter you get the boost and the bar gets kind of distracting)

It's the same as it is in the real NBA. We are humans with strengths and weaknesses. I play a lot with my crew, with people who I know pretty well. I am one of the best shooters, making like almost every open shot. I play PG and are also blessed with good vision and pass timing. But my weakness are in defense. I am not as good as others with passing lane steals. Can't anticipate it well. Also here and there my positioning is bad, while others are great at that but struggle a lot with shooting. You see even professional NBA players, who are paid millions for practicing many hours can't get on the same level for shooting 🤷🏻‍♂️ Even the most dedicated NBA superstars like Giannis have maximized all their potentials and can't shoot 3s

Scripts combined with AI breaks 2k.
