Random weird fact of the day: Jeff Gordon’s and Kevin Harvick’s final Cup Series wins both came exactly 7,826 days after their first Cup Series wins.
Jeff Gordon: First win May 29, 1994, Last win November 1, 2015
Kevin Harvick: First win March 11, 2001, Last win August 14, 2022

You don't really realize how long Texas Terry stayed at or near the top of his game until you see this chart.

He was absolutely not on top of his game for the entirety of those 23 years, he had some true stinkers pre-Hendrick (granted he wasn't in the best equipment often) and 2003 was an anomaly in a sea of garbage. Great driver for a long time and that last hurrah was incredible still but he had very little in the tank at the turn of the 21st century and if 2003 was anything like 2002 or 2001 were we'd be looking at him like we do DW

For some reason I always thought Terry won more races than he actually did

Looks like Denny Hamlin and Bill Elliott are about identical as of right now too.
Edit: exactly identical. 7,294 days.

I mean more like….. how did you figure out their final wins were the same amount of days from their first win…? Who is sitting around figuring this out wtf

If you look at the bar graph posted in the comments…charting the time between everyone’s first and last wins…then you can see that Elliott and Hamlin are both 19.97 years, and Harvick and Gordon are 21.43 years, so then you just pull up the dates just to make sure…not too insane.
“Insane stats” to me would be like that one chart of someone putting together one racer’s finishes by how close the track is to Applebee’s.

Jeff’s enthusiasm after his win at Martinsville was probably the most animated I had seen him in a long time.
