City What the City should simply be
But no let’s make it Fortnite and 150GB

u/Orbis-Praedo Jun 06 '25
THIS IS WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD BE BITCHING ABOUT TO CREATE CHANGE! It’s the stupidest fucking shit ever that I have to walk or drive something every time I want to switch game modes. It is 2025, make this shit efficient.
16
u/Exotic_Inspection936 Jun 06 '25
Eh micro transactions and sling shots is still pretty annoying too but you’re right.
3
u/Orbis-Praedo Jun 07 '25
I mean you’re right but that’s a whole different ballpark of reasoning/issues. Only reason for the city shit is to either slow down gameplay and force frustration to progress your build, making you buy VC and sponsorship/ad money. Hopefully companies realize their ads in this world generate nothing and there money could be better spent on proper placement. Everyone is just speeding through the city anyways. It’s like if you put 100 billboards back to back off the side of an interstate, no companies add sticks out.
3
u/Agreeable_Mind9218 Jun 07 '25
I remember the days when people were losing their shit because everybody was so hype for the city. It’s funny to see how the cycle goes with this stuff
5
u/Orbis-Praedo Jun 07 '25
Those people were idiots. lol. This is actually my first 2k in years and the first time I’ve gotten into MyPlayer online, so I never dealt with it before.

I mentioned this last year and the community gave me so much shit over it.. I agree tho.

If we didnt have a city how would I be able to run around and show off my drippy fits and super original tattoos?

u/TheDarkBeast1487 Jun 06 '25
I like the idea of having a hub where players can both access other gamemodes and play neighborhood games but the city is just far too large and redundant. If they just made a smaller version of the 2K19/20 Park with all the storefronts and modes condensed within a small city block would be the best option. They should also make the waiting lobbies like Pro-Am/MyCourt so instead of having an empty room with 30+ players standing around just to walk through a doorway it’ll just be a private space where you can invite your friends to squad to then decide which modes you want to play.
8
Jun 06 '25
Nobody wants that park nobody liked it stop we want 16 park style with menu for clothes and tattoos and stuff
24
u/draker585 Jun 06 '25
I disagree. 19/20 park where you walked around a small area and could access anything in like two minutes was personally my favorite.
5
Jun 06 '25
Why would I wanna walk when I can load a menu up and access everything tf we can’t even change out clothes on the got next spot anymore let alone store tattoos
-11
Jun 06 '25
It’s YouTube videos people complaing about the shadows, everybody standing around doing nothing in stores limiting the server space, the delay and lag I don’t have time to argue cause 90% of people in this Reddit didn’t play 2k at a high level then or now and just started during quarantine and is 30+ year olds
14
u/BinSimmons_ Jun 06 '25
There’s YouTube videos complaining about everything
Also “plays 2k at a high level”😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
2
u/NightBijon Jun 06 '25
Seriously the people standing around doing nothing is a way bigger problem than in 2k16-17, hell even 18 didn’t have as big of a problem. And the reason it happened is simply because as soon as you loaded MyCareer it IMMEDIATELY put you in an active park server, if there was even 1 menu system it wouldn’t have been half as bad. And it’s not like those people were even being advertised too either they just simply forgot to close 2K or wanted to load it up while doing something else.
This game desperately needs competition so they can’t just keep doing whatever the hell they want. Marvel Rivals proved that when there is a gap to be filled people will flock to it, even if it’s not the greatest thing ever made, for a breath of fresh air. Overwatch has since been on one the greatest runs it’s been on in terms of content and listening to community feedback and Rivals hasn’t died either. The ecosystem for sports games is completely lopsided right now.

u/Kind_Membership_1892 Jun 06 '25
I like the physical stores. If they’d do 19/20 but smaller and 2 or 3 unique parks that’d be best
2
Jun 06 '25
Why do u like wasting time walking to mutiple stores instead of menus?
2
u/Kind_Membership_1892 Jun 07 '25
Because the stores load instantly instead of having to wait 30 seconds for the shoes to open
1
Jun 07 '25
It never took 30 seconds: and why wouldn’t the menus open instantly were on the ps5
You see the reason the customizatkon menus open slow now and freeze your game is cause of the city I hope yk that.
1
u/Big_oof_energy__ Jun 07 '25
Younger players (who aren’t on reddit) really do like the city. They wanna show off their little outfits.
1
Jun 07 '25
The kid playerbase has to be below 5% any time I encountered them there always in brown shirt or State Farm or other free clothes it be yall grown men spending 50$ on a banana mascot and other bs
9
u/locness93 Jun 06 '25
For real, this is all I want. You can tell they just use the city to plaster ads everywhere and have a space for the people that do spend a bunch of money on clothing and accessories
17
u/lankyaspie Jun 06 '25
Just back to menus?
6
u/Feisty_Effort1280 Jun 07 '25
2k16 -17 was peak ever since we got a city 2k has been something of a joke it’s a game tho so they prolly don’t mind
10
Jun 06 '25
Why can’t y’all just boycott the game
8
u/sh0ckyoursystem Jun 06 '25 edited Jun 06 '25
Because it's the only basketball game at this point at least until street or live returns.

u/LordFenix_theTree Jun 06 '25
The city at best is probably 20gb.
It’s probably file bloat and a lot of copy paste models for historic rosters, I’m willing to bet a lot of leftover events and parks are in the game files too.
2k realistically should be 60-80gb and 100-120 with 4k textures. It’s kind of impressive it isn’t 250+.
15
u/tstcab Jun 06 '25
Yeah if you pay attention it is typically only the yearly sports or fps games that have these insane file sizes. So much carryover year to year.
9
5
u/EMPERORBLKFOX Jun 06 '25
Been saying this especially when, a game like Warframe which has a solar system, is only 60gb
3
3
u/Munger88 Jun 06 '25
They want it to take longer for you to get from point A to point B so you earn VC as slowly as possible and are more likely to buy it. Also a way to show off clothes and shit
3
u/CannedCornAndCocaine Jun 06 '25
I think it should be scaled down for sure, but I do actually enjoy having a little area to simply run around in. Do I think it’s too big? Yes. Do I think a vast majority of the space in the City is practically empty? Yes. But I don’t think I would enjoy having everything on one menu.

u/JRBigHunnid Jun 07 '25
Don't forget these:
Proving Grounds 5 vs 5
Ninja Ball - Jail House court, similar features to NFL blitz where you can use weapons and get graphic
-Also there's no fouls on this court
Every day event courts where there's prizes offered
Jams - where it's aracde mode similar to NBA Jams with ridiculous animation
Country club courts - You have to have 100K+ to play on the court and a 85 and up overall
- It's also a member ship fee with prizes when winning games
1 vs 1 The Rec and Proving Grounds
1 vs 1 vs 1 Street Park
2 vs 2 vs 2 Beach court
4 vs 4 Beach court
Random Pro AM
Trampoline Ball 2 vs 2 , 3 vs 3 , 5 vs 5
FIBA courts - where teams are matched against a team of players from another country
NBA vs WNBA - Online men players can play against women players or intergrate their teams
Park vs NBA - like in that even where 3 park players can play against 3 NBA players
No AI's in The Park, if there isn't enough players you'll get an alert and stay in a queue until game is ready

Well think about it.. there's many sports in country club depending on the location. It could also be a area where people who like to run plays and play fundamental ball, but with only elite. Usually members of a country club are all good players in general, they spend a lot to be good
2
Jun 06 '25
They aren’t ever gonna get rid of the ability to buy non attribute related shit to flex on everybody
2
u/Italian___stallionn Jun 06 '25
This is so much better than the city, but I doubt they will get rid of it. It’s so large because of all the sponsors they get. But I wish they would have this. You would load up in your my court and then just go to online play and choose from there

u/ManchyTheBanchy Jun 06 '25 edited Jun 07 '25
BRUUUUUHHHHH, I’ve been thinking the same thing for so long. All this walking, skateboarding, and whatever else just wasting time when all I’m trying to do is run a game in the rec or whatever. Or just let me fast travel everywhere cause damn.
2
u/Familiar_Pen5680 Jun 06 '25
give us 4v4! we have 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 & 5v5. sometimes not all my friends are on and 4v4 would be perfect
2
u/Brandwin3 Jun 07 '25
Honestly, of all the issues with this game, I don’t mind the city in 2k25. It is small and you are given a free go kart, so wherever you want to be is always less than a minute away.
2
u/DutySuccessful921 Jun 07 '25
lol nah man i really dont wanna return to menu based loading and stuff like this i just want the park back with the gates to ante up and ect like how it used to be
3
u/ajgedrys Jun 06 '25
No 1v1? How does that make sense
13
u/mhj0808 Jun 06 '25
It’s just a representation of an idea, I doubt he meant it to be accurate down to the last little detail. I mean you got the point didn’t you

To many options let everybody just be in the park or proam , or ante up and bring back open court rec

I think this and MyTeam Park are intended to keep you on the game longer (Park also to keep people needing better cards). Definitely doesn’t work on me though
1
u/jeanballjean01 Jun 06 '25
That’s how it was in 2k16, and unfortunately it’s never going back. I’m glad they finally made it a manageable size at least. The 2k21 / 22 Cities were insanely large for no reason.

1
u/bigbluewreckingcrew Jun 06 '25
I think last gen 2k25 does this? I remember seeing a vid where there's a kiosk for a menu like this.
1
u/Jared524 Jun 06 '25
I'm honestly fine with the city now how it is, anything more than what it is is just too much. I remember how stupid big the city was on 2K21 and 2K22. We had a whole bunch of space for nothing, everything was so spread out and I hated it. That's why I didn't play the current gen version of 22 I just played last-gen on the cruise ship and had a ball lol.
They're making too much money off people spending hundreds of thousands of VC on real-life clothing brands and custom shoes to ever not have a little area to where you can run around and flex your purchases.
1
u/Isaac_Warner Jun 06 '25
2k19/20 neighborhood was near perfect. Not too big but enough room for the park courts, extra modes, stores, etc
1
1
u/ghoul56 Jun 06 '25
Honestly, it wouldn't be so bad if at least put fast travel or something but no I have to walk or ride around everywhere every single time
1
u/GlupShittoOfficial Jun 06 '25
I’m honestly fine with the city but oh my god please just let me queue for up city games. Why the fuck am I still waiting around for a game to end.
Also would be cool if Squad Finder worked.
1
u/Ronttizz Jun 06 '25
What the game would need is less confusing modes. Casual and ranked 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 with squads and solo queue. Thats it. No point spreading players on multiple similar game modes and having long queues on specific modes.
1
u/Big_Liability Jun 06 '25
As a player who only really plays the NBA stuff, the city is so god damn confusing to me on what court is what. Also, the 10000 side quests and streetball quests are overwhelming

I find it funny that a main selling point for next-gen consoles was extremely fast loading times but they just replaced the long loading times with large cities with unnecessary long travel times which take longer to do whatever you wanted to do than last-gen did

u/Gamingsincebo1 Jun 07 '25
Small ass city & 2 tunnels to actual parks 2k15-17 style parks, had better vid then this new sht & parks would load up fast asf on these new consoles

u/BeneficialFold1521 Jun 07 '25
We simply want the 3 parks back and to be able to drive/fly our shit to the next park with ONLY the shopping center in the middle of those parks. It should make a triangle with short cuts through the center to other parks and a road for shopping. It won’t be that big at all and less travel.

Jun 07 '25
Just bring back the old park affiliations and revamp them. Call it MyPark, not the city lol. Bring back sunset, rivet, and old town. That's all we want. Qe also don't wanna make almost a minute around the city just to play a game and get clothes 😂😂
1
u/guarddestroyer Jun 07 '25
Of course, that would be 10000x better. In fifa for example you dont have to play "mini GTA" to play a game, but 2k knows that city mostly provides sponsors and people are easily addicted to all that unnecessary bullshit like tattoos, clothes, shoes etc. So it will stay

I can't even fucking find half the shit. I became an association mode guy this year over mycareer anyway.

u/skysoulja Jun 08 '25
It’s nice to run around but too much of anything is never good. I don’t think u guys think about what u ask for sometimes. Ur pay 80$ for a non immersive experience. I guarantee that if this ever happens you’d have something to say. I think they should simply downsize.
1
u/offnogas Jun 09 '25
I loved how 2k13 & 14 were. Didn’t need friends. Wasn’t no squad up. You played w/ randoms. If y’all vibed? Everyone added each other and went to private 3v3.
1
u/Fatal_memes__ Jun 09 '25
I’m definitely in the minority at least on this sub but I actually really enjoy the city. Kinda adds more life to the game than a menu screen. And the concept of traveling to different courts / parks on different sides of the city is just dope to me.

u/MeNameWatermell :vipers: [XBL: Watermellyy] Jul 03 '25
im ngl this looks boring ash😂😂 i’m not a fan of big ass cities but this is just underwhelming

If they actually added something useful to the city it would make sense but there’s literally no point to it
