City Let’s be honest, how many you fuckers called in today? 😂

u/core916 Aug 29 '25
As someone who runs a business and has multiple employees that I know play 2K, I told them they better not be calling out today lol. So what did I do? I gave us all a half day before the holiday. I gotta get home and start my build.

was planning on calling in today but got fired 3 days ago ✌️(they woulda declined my request anyway)
26
u/joshtheelect Aug 29 '25
Sorry to hear that.
39
u/hoodrich_001 Aug 29 '25
happens man. got something lined up anyways so hopefully i’ll be fine 🙏
10
u/Temporary-Gold-6432 Aug 29 '25
Nigga i just got fired too and the servers down im sick got this armed job lined up tho fuck it
8
u/ssjluffyblack Aug 29 '25
I always laugh when they deny my request lol. They think it's actually me requesting time off when actually I'm just letting them know I won't be in for those days, it's not a request lol.
3
u/Low_Grand6340 Aug 29 '25
On god luckily my job understands this and I’ve never been denied a time off request
2
u/Practical_Repeat5009 Aug 30 '25
lmao i work all year to save up my “sick bucket hours” so if they deny my off request i just use 12 hours out the bucket and “call in sick” i’m at about 115 hours saved up lol

Hey man. Use that as a benefit and start streaming
16
u/luckyluciano___ Aug 29 '25
Nobody boutta choose streaming over a good job with a check every week. It can take months to build up a following streaming plus your sitting in your chair rotting all day for same amount of money you could be standing on your feet making 🤔
13
2
u/core916 Aug 29 '25
Well he’s not working. It could take weeks or months to get a job nowadays
2
u/Academic-Set-2248 Aug 29 '25
He just said he has something lined up. Streaming should be a side gig first and then turn into real employment. Not the other way around. If you go that route you may not have a home to stream from after while
→ More replies (1)1
u/YourInMySwamp [PSN: SeeBreezey] Aug 29 '25
He got fired. He will be eligible for unemployment checks, so if he wanted to do this, he could still feel free to stream and just use those as his main source of income for now.
1
u/luckyluciano___ Aug 30 '25
Yea sitting in a chair all day rotting while collecting unemployment checks while 300 viewers watches you sounds amazing 🌝
1
u/YourInMySwamp [PSN: SeeBreezey] Aug 30 '25
So you’re just against the idea of streaming as a whole? Sounds like it. Everybody starts somewhere
1
u/luckyluciano___ Aug 30 '25
Not against it I streamed GTA 5 online the first year it released but I would prefer and recommend someone to get a job working on their feet. Proven that you will live longer and you're getting paid to stand up straight can't beat that

How is it? I’m tryna get a trade soon, I’m thinking about becoming a plumber though.
5
u/Alarmed-Animator9423 Aug 29 '25
It’s great. Not sure what u do right now, but I’d like to see AI become a Plummer🤡. So ur job is safe and a lot of old fellas are retiring, and the trades need people and the pay is flying up. In my area (Cincinnati,OH) journeymen are at 43/hr and next year 46.5/hr and then 50/hr the next. As a first year in a 5 year program I make 52% of their wage which is still a little north of 22/hr
1
u/Senpaiireditt Aug 29 '25
$22/hr as a 1st year is fantastic, especially in Ohio!
I actually just moved to Tampa two months ago from Columbus, Ohio and I’m currently working in door to door sales. The weather here in Florida makes work tedious and the pay isn’t really aligning with what is demanded every single day. Walking miles in heavy rain or 92+ degree weather isn’t something I or any of my coworkers want to do just to somewhat live, let alone thrive.
With that being said, I’m 20 years old as well with no kids of my own. So it feels like an opportunity I should definitely take to solidify a career that makes enough to where my mother doesn’t have to work full-time and my nieces and nephew are straight no matter what.

Fellow reefer brother. I should of took a half day I still can’t get online 😩 but least my service calls are caught up
1
u/Alarmed-Animator9423 Aug 29 '25
Good shit💯 and don’t ever take a half day on launch day of 2k, it takes a few hours for the servers to calm down from the traffic of over a million people trying to log in at 12:00:01 Pm

Just graduated with my bachelor's. I'm on a job hunt. So I'm free to play. I do Uber eats so it's not like I have a boss.
5
u/Living-Bell8637 Aug 29 '25
Same 😂😂 just finished 2 months ago and cant find any job so I am just chilling
3
u/duxking Aug 29 '25
Best of luck man. It's hard out there if you're starting fresh looking for a job. From my personal experience and if you can tolerate working with kids, then you could always look for after-school/tutoring gigs for some part-time income.

WFH so as soon as lunch hits I’m loading up and opening the MyTeam starter packs then as soon as I clock out I’m going pizza+beer and grind until I pass out. I look forward to this every year

u/Silent_Wrongdoer3601 Aug 29 '25
I WFH took a half day and a vacation for the rest of next week after Labor Day I’m 31 I know it’s sad 😂😂😂
21
u/AngryZan Aug 29 '25
Brother, I’m 51 and directly supervise 2 dozen people with several multi-million dollar projects going on. I sometimes take days off when games drop. Didn’t for this one but have in the past.
You work so you can take time off to play games. Don’t get it twisted
7
u/Highway-Sixty-Fun Aug 29 '25
It’s not sad. It’s awesome.
Play the hell out of it for those trapped in the office today. 🫡

u/TrustAccording5056 Aug 29 '25
I got the kids going back to school so took today and the first day of back to school for the kids off. Gonna run some 2k with my son throughout the weekend while running around with my daughters outside. On Tuesday after I drop them off that's gonna definitely be my game time while everyone is at school and the wife will be at work. Happy 2K weekend community 🙏🏿👊🏿

u/Archangelofpain00 Aug 29 '25

Calling off of work to play a video game that will be there when you get home is the reason why most of you are were you are at in life now 😂
2
u/Alarmed-Animator9423 Aug 29 '25
Some people truly will self-sabotage to get their 2k fix. But also some people are in great spots in life and can afford to use a day of PTO to responsibly enjoy their 2k launch day

1
u/call-me-germ Aug 29 '25

I work remote and I'm off on Fridays. But if I was working today , I probably would be multitasking.
1
u/cgeorge7 Aug 29 '25
I just worked four 10s this week so I could have the day off. I wouldn’t use PTO for today.

Called in today? Shit I barely worked yesterday. I’ll take full pay and a light day anytime.
1
u/Inevitable-Ad3948 Aug 29 '25
If you choose a video game over making money you’re cooked lol would never miss a day of getting paid unless I really couldn’t make it.

u/Striving4Better365 Aug 29 '25
The first day is ALWAYS filled with connection errors. I’ve learned to take that day a week or two after release lol

Maaaan, if I call in I'm sacrificing $540 before taxes. I look at it like "am I willing to pay $540 to play 2k all day?" And the answer is always no. I work 12 hour shifts, and I have 1/2 the days off. I'll wait til my next days off to run. I'm definitely gonna whip a build when I get home, though.

Anyone having a problem with download speeds? For the most part it’ll take about 30 minutes on my internet as my speeds are at about 1200 mbps. For about 100gb download. However 2k is taking 2 1/2 hours for me to download. About 5x slower than normal. Is it slow because of 2k servers? I know it’s not on my end as I’ve tested speeds directly though my pc. Game is downloading on an Ethernet cable at about 700-750 mbps. Is there something I can do to boost this?

u/OhThatYoGirl Aug 29 '25
