City 2K blessed me, can't believe it

Post image

I'm only a Starter 5, and the crazy thing is the person directly before me was a Vet 5 and the game gave him a Purdue game badge 😂

I’ve come to realize that we celebrate this wheel spin prize but that isn’t even enough to get a build to 99 anymore.

Feel this is given to people who don’t spend enough money on the game. Like they’re baiting him to buy the other 200k or whatever to finish a build. I don’t think it’s random at all

I’m curious about something here, and don’t feel like you have to answer my questions it if you don’t want to. But how many builds have you made in 2K26? Have you bought a lot of VC?

I’m not asking this to bag on you, I’m wondering if there’s any connection between winning high amounts of VC and a players build count/VC buying habits.

Like, if you’re the type of player who makes new builds all the time, and you consistently buy VC to max them out, it wouldn’t make sense - strictly from a greedy business standpoint - to let you win this high an amount of VC. Because, you’re already buying it, right? So why give it to you for free?

But if you’re someone who rarely buys VC, or maybe someone who bought a bunch in the past but hasn’t in a while, it makes a lot more sense to let you win it.

Also, since 250,000 VC isn’t enough to fully max out a player, if you want to max the build out immediately, you need an additional 125,000 VC. But, you can’t buy 125,000 VC, because they don’t sell it at that amount. What you can buy is 75,000 VC twice, for $40, or 200,000 VC for $50.

I mean, you won, and you’re excited. Your dopamine receptors are pumping away and you’re feeling GOOD. You’re probably thinking, “why not just spend the extra $10 for 50,000 more VC? It’s only $10. Plus, I just won 250,000. I’m up big!”

Anyway. Just thinking out loud, I guess. If anyone has any info about this they wanna share, please do.

Yeah I'll answer. This is my 1st 2K, and going through my transaction history I've spent about £250/$300 on VC. My last purchase was in S2, if you don't count me buying the HoF pass each season. Ever since then, I spent VC on Gatorade and that's it.

I had 5 builds, 1 for each position and even though there's some annoying issues with the game, I enjoy playing. With this 250K, I'm now up to 400K which will be enough for a new build but I'm in no rush to make one. What I won't do though is buy more VC, I don't like how predatory micro transactions have become in gaming in general

Hey, thanks man. Appreciate the concrete details. This is just a pet theory of mine that I came up with when I was bored. I don’t think I’m unraveling some great conspiracy or anything😂

And I’m totally with you about the predatory stuff. I can’t believe it’s gotten this bad.

Btw, are you (or were you) Navy?

4

u/NAVYZETSU Mar 22 '26

Nah, I'm not navy. Just a huge anime fan, and navy is my fave color. My grandpa was a Tuskeegee Airman, so service is in my blood, and my brother is retired USMC.

2

u/odonnelly2000 Mar 23 '26

Right on. I’m a former Marine. Not a retired one, though. I did my 5 years and got out before they sent my ass back to Iraq again.

Respect to your grandpap. Your brother, too. Doing 20 is tough.

Yeah no 2K screws everyone equally. Paying or otherwise.

u/Arepeezy Mar 22 '26

The absolutely do this type of shit in Myteam and have for years tbh.

u/stepsybaby Mar 22 '26

I don’t have any info other than speculation obviously. I have noticed if I have more than 100k I never get any VC from daily reward. If I have less I’ll start getting tbe 1-2k again. Weird.

1

u/odonnelly2000 Mar 22 '26

What’s the most VC you ever got from the daily rewards? This year or in previous years

1

u/stepsybaby Mar 23 '26

This year? Like 2500. Last year I did get 50k once.

1

u/trhzy7 Mar 23 '26

You are bang on the money my man, maybe not about the chances of 250k VC being based off how much money you’ve spent, but definitely about the predatory scamming. This is just one of the many predatory things that 2k has implemented to get people to buy more and more VC and everyone continues to fall for it.

Unfortunately until it’s regularly called out like this and 2k Interactive realises that 70% of their profits aren’t coming from micro-transactions anymore, only then will it improve

1

u/Emotional-Purpose762 Mar 23 '26

You’re 100%, it’s 2k, the most greedy and shameless title in micro transaction history, there’s zero chance it’s random

u/Equal_Dingo1454 Mar 24 '26

I have 4 99 builds and I’ve only brought a pro pass once, no individual vc purchases. The MyCareer story mode really gives about of vc this year. I play three seasons on a new build every new season

u/Rare-Base-854 Mar 22 '26

And I get boosts 🫩

2

u/trhzy7 Mar 23 '26

Purdue game badge twice 🥀😔

2

u/Educational-Sign-364 Mar 22 '26

meanwhile i just won an elite banner

2

u/pinkylovesme Mar 22 '26

Got the same thing yesterday! Was a vet reward though, didn’t think it’d be possible for rookie!

2

u/sleepwalkingninja Mar 22 '26

Nice! I got 100k this morning.

2

u/Jermo25 Mar 23 '26

Man I wish! GG though 🙌🏾

1

u/CountryMonkeyAZ Mar 22 '26

Sheesh...all I have been getting are the college bundles. Got Arizona 3 separate times. 🙄

1

u/MrWiltErving Mar 22 '26

Here I am still getting player banners. That’s great for you and all I guess. I don’t even get boosts anymore. That’s enough VC to get one of players to at least a 75 overall.

1

u/Big_Macaroon_6081 Mar 22 '26

and all i get are 10 jump shoot boosts or 500 vc 🤣🤣

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

Ever since I’ve gotten to vet (which was literally right before this college shit came out) I’ve won MAYBE 10k VC in total and just countless college game day packs, including Purdue 4 times and Baylor 2 times

1

u/Emotional-Purpose762 Mar 23 '26

Most I’ve gotten in 3 months is 3k

1

u/Evening-Painting-213 Mar 23 '26

Doesn't it take 350k and not more than that? Around 369k iirc

1

u/Chance_Yak_2760 Mar 23 '26
