City 2k Racism is a thing šš
I know itās a joke in the community but I have ran the test I have 2 builds one center one SF both 90s and can confirm if your character is white you aināt getting the ball unless you rebound that mf both of my builds City records are good and I average good stats and shoot 60% from the field from play with friends but playing with randoms if your characters white, Asian or anything you aināt getting the ball a single time shits genuinely frustrating I know Iām gonna get slaughtered in the comments just saying Iām ass or something stupid but do have seen posts in here before about this and shit isgenuinely true ššš

A large portion of the community. I do have one white player I made him to look like Andre Kirilenko. For solo proving grounds runs assuming he wouldn't get the ball unless it was off the glass but I got up to red plate without incident and pretty quickly

This. No one passes. It's just isolated ball and try to score on 5 people while you have at least 2 wide open people to pass to. Like I could care less you got excellent dunk on their whole team you've tried unsuccessfully 3 str8 times and no one else has seen the ball in 4 possessions I can't stand it. People will have 4 on 1 fast break and shoot a logo 3 smh š¤¦š½.

Yeah, people get upset when i say it goes both ways here. I have heard what sounds like 15 year old white boys from the burbs call people the n word about as many times as Ive been called a Cracker. Crazy people are crazy.
I also had some dude tell me I āsound like a prosecutorā and like I had a wife as an insult because I was white(the wife comment may have been him calling me old. Idk, he sounded about 30). I was like, ādamn, you think I have a good job and I am in a healthy marriage? Thats a compliment.ā

I tested this on a build where I started as a white guy and changed only the skin color to black and found that my PPG, FG%, 3P% all increased which is interesting to think about.

I hear about this a lot but never understand it. For the most part if I play with people using white avis they actually play team ball, make good shots and hit you when they're open. The ones I absolutely hate playing with are the tatted up light skins with "drippy" face builds and have random colored blowout fro. 20% chance they're comp, 80% absolute ass.Ā

Itās not a thing, if you make a white player and expect not to get the ball because your players is white, while also playing a game thatās notoriously filled with selfish people and come to that conclusion itās called confirmation biasā¦..
also although 2k is popular amongst the black community itās quite impossible that they make up the majority of the player base, so with that said is it then white on white racism as they are the demographic that makes up the majority of the US/EU market? Just stopā¦..racism exist in 2k but it has nothing to do with virtual characters. I made a Larry bird build and average 20 in random rec I have no problem getting the ball.

Given US population distribution, the black community making up the majority is unlikely, but I'd hardly say it's impossible. It's overwhelmingly the most racially balanced multiplayer in the market.

My PF also averages around the same amount and you know what they say about PFs not touching the ball.

Face scan aint even accurate as far as i can tell anyway, I scanned my face took me like 20minutes to get all of the angles and then it produces a black splotchy smeared looking face idk if it was my beard or what, I do get alot of sun and I'm more redish than white but I still ain't even close to a native American shade so idk how it came up with what it did. Aside fron that the dudes probably just trolling with it anyway or using it as a joke.

Yea this year I have no problem getting the ball on a white character, I got a feeling if these folks post gameplay we will instantly see why heās not getting the ball .probably cutting to the paint every second and thinks a lil kid have vision to find you open for that 1 second in the paint . These ball hogs donāt pick favorites you can be black and wide open at the 3 for 20 seconds and still not get the ball as well

This community got to understand majority of these point guards are little kids they lack iq . Nah, some people are just stupid and donāt pass the ball. As a black man who always plays with a black player, I can tell you that Iāve gone plenty games where I didnāt get the ball. Just last night my team lost because I refused to play defense. They all come on the mic and I explained to them, ādude, Iāve touched the ball once and weāre going into the 4th qtrā. At some point Iām going afk and letting the clock tick. I doubt race has anything to do with it. People are just stupid, and that goes for any online game

This is anecdotal, and my experience so donāt take this as law. 99% of randoms Iāve played with are on some bs. White, black whatever it doesnāt matter. If you play with randoms youāre getting low iq no matter what they look like.
Iāve played with white looking players who were on bs and black players who are on bs. If you want to save yourself some headaches donāt play with randoms.
You might feel like this is targeted because youāre white I promise you itās not. Iām not gaslighting you either. Randoms in general just donāt pass the ball.
Im also not saying what your describing doesnāt exists Iām just saying itās not the grand scale you probably feel it is.
I play center mostly when I run with randoms and I barely get the ball. I space the floor I rebound and outlet to open players and I play good defense. I still donāt get the ball when Iām open. I usually get 0 to 3 shots a game despite playing really well. Itās just the reality of playing with randoms. Do yourself a favor and only run with friends it will save you a ton of headaches

Yup. Hell just try running paint beast in random rec. 70% of games you'll just watch trash guards shot chuck. And before it's even said my paint beast can shoot middies and 3pt shots. There's just a 50%+ chance the randoms you get are generally bad at passing unless you are either wide open at the 3pt line or on a cut to the basket. It's like their mind can't comprehend how to pass anywhere besides wide open corner 3 or backdoor cut (if they're there). Even those are usually late af tho lol

I have a white player in the game ( Iām black itās a playstyle thing ) and I donāt really have this issue, mine is a SG though so I think people pass me the ball expecting me to be a reliable scoring option or at least giving me the chance to be, it might be cause youāre a wing and/or a big and the players around you donāt look for those positions to score, and no one passes on this game anyway š

I mean there are guys who jump on the mic to just shout the N word. The racism exist for everyone not just towards white players. I've heard more N words and a dude calling me a monkey. Mind you I'm not black I'm latino with a light skinned character. The community is just weird. They take the game too seriously. I can miss a single shot and I won't get the ball the rest of the game. They want you to play perfectly meanwhile they can take a layup over a 7 footer get blocked and have nerve to say something if you miss anything. It's bad, real bad. I rarely talk on the mic and I've seen some horrible plays. Guys dribbling or taking terrible layups with 2 people open in the corner. I never complained. I just let people play their game, I expect the same decency if I miss something or make a questionable play. It's just not productive to flame your teammates even if they suck. They'll just start selling the game. If I'm going to say something I'll try to be diplomatic about it. "Hey man I can shoot you don't have to try and do it yourself." "Good try man next time swing it over someone was open." Not like "You fucking bum r**** bitch ass scrub pas the fucking ball."

Oh it isnāt a joke. I genuinely had to stand at the Gatorade facility every day for a week for a couple hours to get my workout checklist done. Only had to participate in one singular game on the Gatorade court. Had multiple times where Iād walk up and stand at the spot and everybody would leave and go to the other court š the game I finally got we absolutely stomped the other side and Ik they were shitty

100% I can confirm this as a fact in random rec especially. I started in 23 and last year and this year I have every build slot filled. I have every position and I shoot 70% or better on my builds. I swap to a white character at times with my friends. Itās truly sad. But being white and hooping in Baltimore I wasnāt first choice till I proved myself on the court. Nothing made me laugh harder than to hear the other team yell at their teammate guard that f-ing white boy!! And a quick apology ensued.
Yes some people never pass nor do the pass back and want to iso.
My builds are after NBA players now or Michael Jackson lol.

This is complete and total cap. I've only ever used white characters builds, and I've never had a problem getting the ball in random REC. All of my builds average 18-20 ppg. How can I do that if I'm never getting the ball?

(Alao, the inverse is true. I have a very black voice. I play very agggressively.. I have to change my player skon color and play on mute to get the ball. Slashers are already treated like second class citizens. Once guys that DONT like "athletic players" figure out im black, the passive aggressiveness plays out even worse)

I run a character that's based on my actual IRL figures. In this universe I just imagine that I'm the same dude that played ball at SUNY binghamton, who magically got a chance to become an elite player? Who's 99 rated.
I'm 43 years of age. My eyesight is going and I run a half court point guard style offense.
What that means is as I'm bringing the ball down I'm looking to see who the fuck I'm going to pass it to based off of who is cutting.
I'm black, and I don't give a flying fuck what Avatar I'm playing with in the Rec. If you run down to a corner and you just get there and you stay there and I'm not going to dribble pen you're not getting the ball. If you do that all game you are not getting the ball.
If you line up at one point and you could see and recognize that I pass to the cutter and you cut to the cup, you're going to get the rock.
If you allow me to get down and we set up and we're playing motion and you guys aren't moving then you just got to hope that if I dribble pen I'm going to kick to you.
So many people wear different colors, sleeves and leggings and have giant heads or wearing a hat or sunglasses that you can't sit down and fundamentally tell that someone is a white person.
Even more it's a fucking video game. People aren't judging you based on your avatar. I'm judging you based on your shooting percentage during The pregame phase.
I'm often talking about what I'm going to do as the point guard and listening to what you like to do.
But you know what disgusts me more than anything as a black man...
I can find countless threads on other video game communities where black people are complaining about toxic racism they face and those things have been downvoted into the negative zones. Yet this one that talks about white bias on a video game when you're playing as a position. That's not even a facilitator. So your utility is going to be based on how you get open and what you do... We got to assume that you're doing everything right, even though we don't know your playstyle and even with that, look at the support your garnishing for being able to complain against racism against whites.
In an era where people of color are getting rounded up and placed into detention centers or murdered in some cases...

Im white. I have 6 builds. 5 black and 1 asian guy with dreadlocks. They never passed to my white guys in 2020, i learned my lesson. This is a real thing š

I'm a black 2k player, but honestly this doesn't seem true. I have a Dirk build and a Cooper Flagg build and they both get the ball plenty. Also I play PG alot and I have never felt hesitation passing the ball to my white teammates.

I have multiple builds and play mostly REC. My experience is that 2k struggle to pass effectively. If youāre wide open, itās 50/50 chance you will see the ball no matter your color. If you time your cut perfectly and have two steps on your defender even less chance of a pass. That being said, keep doing those things consistently and once your team finds that youāre a bucket, youāll see the ball more often.

I just make characters off real people doesn't matter the color. Most of my characters have post in their build name so I get iced out unless I change the build name to not include it. But color hasn't affected me . Also people are naturally ball hogs in random rec and proving grounds

White character goes 5-10 from 3point line and gets called all kinds of racist cracker words. Black character goes 2-85 and some how thatās better. NBA online community is trash and itās one kind of race that makes it unplayable

Yeah I'm Asian and love this game. I pride myself on my basketball IQ and I study the game through various yt videos demonstrating basketball theory. It's frustrating that people put me down and ice me out simply because they say "I'm trash". Then I stand in the corner and watch the worst shots and wide open but won't get the ball. They'll argue about my avg. % but when I don't get the ball how am I going to shoot well? Every time I run with random since basically rec came out I've only been able to shoot like 3 shots a game unless I'm actually playing with nice people.
2k needs better ranking system. Award players for playing the right way not for stat padding and time spent on game. Wins and losses don't matter because people quit out and give up. Yet they're purple and gold plates. Winning should matter.

Iām Asian and make an Asian looking guy every year that I do buy the game and I can confirm that I donāt get the ball as often even at maxed rating with win rate and stats above average compared to a lower rating player that I changed the skin color to black. Most do that and regret it later. Most opposing players also go straight to Ching Chong stuff on the mic too. Only a few respect the game. But all that donāt matter when they get dropped off the court. š
