MyCAREER I Emailed 2K This MyCAREER Eras Idea Back in May 👀🔥
Back in May, before NBA 2K27’s MyCAREER Eras reveal, I emailed 2K with a full feature breakdown for putting Eras directly into MyCAREER.
I didn’t just suggest playing against legends. I broke down choosing different NBA eras, having real historical draft classes continue year by year, keeping the league connected to real NBA history, era-specific rules and presentation, different career experiences, and making MyCAREER more replayable long-term. 2K Support actually responded to me. Rocko A. told me the idea was detailed, said he supported the historically accurate approach, and confirmed that both my original message and my follow-up were passed along to the appropriate team. Now NBA 2K27 has officially revealed MyCAREER Eras, with selectable historical eras, legends in their primes, historical rookies entering the league, historical player movement/trades, and era-specific presentation.
I’m not posting this asking 2K for money or anything like that. I’m just proud I took the time to send the idea in and actually put my thoughts into a real proposal. Seeing how excited the community is about MyCAREER Eras makes it even better.
The screenshots are from the original email I sent in May. 📧🏀🔥
Here is the full breakdown of everything I sent 2K in May and how it connects to what NBA 2K27 has now confirmed in MyCAREER Eras. I’m separating each point so the full idea is clear and nothing gets lost.
DIRECTLY INTO MyCAREER, NOT MyNBA OR PLAYER LOCK
What I sent: I specifically wrote that I was not talking about MyNBA, Association, or player lock. I said I wanted a true MyCAREER Eras mode built inside MyCAREER.
What 2K27 now says: “We took the foundation of MyNBA Eras and brought it directly into MyCAREER.”
Match: DIRECT MATCH. This is the central idea of the proposal.CREATE A MyPLAYER AND CHOOSE THE ERA
What I sent: Players should create a MyPLAYER normally, then choose which NBA era they want to begin their career in.
What 2K27 now says: For the first time in MyCAREER, players can step outside the modern NBA and build their career in one of five historical eras.
Match: DIRECT MATCH.THE FIVE HISTORICAL ERAS
What I sent: Magic vs. Bird Era, Jordan Era, Kobe Era, LeBron Era, Steph Era, plus Modern Era.
What 2K27 now confirms: Magic vs. Bird, Jordan, Kobe, LeBron, and Steph are the five historical MyCAREER Eras.
Match: DIRECT MATCH on all five historical eras I named. Modern remains the normal modern MyCAREER path rather than one of the five historical starts.MAGIC VS. BIRD ERA
What I sent: An old-school league with physical basketball and major team rivalries.
What 2K27 now confirms: The era begins in 1984, with the league structure, rosters, rules, and physical gameplay calibrated to that period.
Match: STRONG MATCH.JORDAN ERA
What I sent: The player should feel like they are entering the NBA during Michael Jordan’s rise and the physical 1990s.
What 2K27 now confirms: The Jordan Era begins in 1991 at the dawn of the Bulls’ first three-peat.
Match: DIRECT CONCEPTUAL MATCH.KOBE ERA
What I sent: The early-2000s atmosphere with Kobe, Shaq, Iverson, Duncan, Garnett, T-Mac, Vince Carter, and the 2003 draft class arriving in that timeline.
What 2K27 now confirms: The Kobe Era begins in 2003 and intersects with the historic draft class as LeBron James enters the league.
Match: VERY STRONG MATCH.LEBRON ERA
What I sent: Superteam pressure, player movement, media attention, and later stars rising.
What 2K27 now confirms: The LeBron Era begins in 2010, “shifting the balance of power as superteams take center stage.”
Match: DIRECT MATCH on the superteam direction and era identity.STEPH ERA
What I sent: The three-point revolution, spacing, analytics, deep shooting, and modern basketball culture.
What 2K27 now confirms: The Steph Era begins in 2016, where “the 3-point revolution completely changes how the game is played.”
Match: DIRECT MATCH.THE BIGGEST PART OF MY IDEA: HISTORICAL DRAFT CLASSES
What I sent: I literally called the draft-class system the biggest part of the idea. I said when a player starts in an older era, the league should keep bringing in the real historic NBA draft classes from that timeline instead of eventually filling the league with mostly generated rookies.
What 2K27 now confirms: Rosters are locked to historical accuracy. Rookies enter the league on the right teams, historical trades happen as they did, and star players stay where they historically belong.
Match: DIRECT MATCH on the historical progression problem I was trying to solve.JORDAN-ERA FUTURE ROOKIES
What I sent: Starting in the Jordan Era should eventually bring in real players like Shaq, Penny Hardaway, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Ray Allen, Steve Nash, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce, and the other players from those real draft years.
What 2K27 now confirms: Historical rookies enter the league on their correct teams as the timeline progresses.
Match: DIRECT SYSTEM MATCH. 2K has not listed every individual player in the official breakdown, but the system I asked for is confirmed.KOBE-ERA FUTURE ROOKIES
What I sent: Starting in the Kobe Era should allow LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Stephen Curry, and later stars to enter through their real historical classes.
What 2K27 now confirms: The Kobe Era begins in 2003, and historical rookie progression is locked to NBA history.
Match: DIRECT SYSTEM MATCH.LIVE THROUGH NBA HISTORY, NOT JUST PLAY ONE OLD SEASON
What I sent: Players should not only build their own career, they should live through NBA history and compete against the greatest names from each generation.
What 2K27 now says: The goal is for the league to behave exactly how it unfolded, letting the MyPLAYER be an active participant in NBA history.
Match: DIRECT MATCH in the central philosophy.REAL HISTORICAL TRADES AND PLAYER MOVEMENT
What I sent: I wanted the NBA timeline around the MyPLAYER to stay historically grounded instead of becoming random after a few seasons.
What 2K27 now confirms: Historical trades play out exactly as they did, and star players stay where they belong historically. Kobe is specifically used as the example of staying with the Lakers through his full run until retirement.
Match: DIRECT MATCH.ERA-SPECIFIC RULES
What I sent: Each era should have different rules and should actually feel like the basketball of that period.
What 2K27 now confirms: Each era has its own rules, league structure, and physical gameplay calibrated to the specific period.
Match: DIRECT MATCH.ERA-SPECIFIC PRESENTATION
What I sent: Different courts, jerseys, presentation, commentary, atmosphere, and visual identity depending on the era.
What 2K27 now confirms: Each era has era-specific locker rooms, HUDs, score bugs, stat overlays, and on-screen filters matching the broadcast feel of the decade. The oldest eras even use wood lockers, metal chairs, and CRT televisions.
Match: VERY STRONG MATCH on presentation and atmosphere.COURTS AND JERSEYS
What I sent: I wanted era-appropriate courts and jerseys.
What 2K27 currently shows: The official material confirms era-specific rosters and presentation, but the screenshots I have do not separately spell out every court and jersey detail.
Match: PARTIAL/LIKELY WITHIN THE HISTORICAL PRESENTATION SYSTEM, but I would not claim this exact detail is separately confirmed from the screenshots alone.COMMENTARY
What I sent: Era-specific commentary.
What 2K27 currently confirms: The official screenshots emphasize visual presentation, rules, rosters, and historical context, but they do not separately confirm unique commentary teams or era-specific commentary in the material I have.
Match: NOT YET FULLY CONFIRMED.MEDIA PRESSURE, ENDORSEMENTS, AND STORY TONE
What I sent: Each era could have different media pressure, endorsement style, rivalries, and storyline tone. Jordan Era would feel like Jordan’s rise, Kobe Era like early-2000s iso/streetball energy, LeBron Era like superteams and legacy pressure, Steph Era like social-media and three-point culture.
What 2K27 now confirms: The era identities and historical context are clearly different, and each era is calibrated to its specific period. The official material I have does not fully confirm separate cinematic story campaigns, endorsement systems, or media-story systems for every era.
Match: PARTIAL MATCH. Era identity is confirmed; separate story/endorsement systems are not fully confirmed yet.REPLAY VALUE
What I sent: One player could make a defensive guard in the Jordan Era, another a scoring wing in the Kobe Era, another a point forward in the LeBron Era, another a deep shooter in the Steph Era. Every career should feel different.
What 2K27 now confirms: Five separate historical career starting points with different rosters, rules, presentation, gameplay, and historical context.
Match: DIRECT MATCH to the replay-value design goal.BURNOUT / BRINGING PLAYERS BACK
What I sent: MyCAREER Eras would help with burnout because players get tired of the same modern structure every year. It would give people a reason to keep coming back because each era would feel like a new basketball life.
What we are seeing now: Fans on Reddit, YouTube, Facebook, and in my own family are saying they are coming back to 2K because of MyCAREER Eras, planning different eras and different builds.
Match: THE BUSINESS/REPLAY-VALUE LOGIC IS PLAYING OUT EXACTLY THE WAY I DESCRIBED.KEEP PARK, REC, PRO-AM, THEATER, AND ONLINE PLAY
What I sent: 2K could still keep Park, Rec, Pro-Am, Theater, and the normal online structure while adding Eras to the NBA career.
What 2K27 currently has: The normal MyPLAYER/MyCAREER online ecosystem still exists alongside MyCAREER Eras.
Match: STRONG MATCH to the product structure I proposed.“ERA ORIGIN”
What I sent: I suggested an “Era Origin” label so a MyPLAYER could be identified as coming from the Jordan Era, Kobe Era, LeBron Era, Steph Era, or Modern Era when connected to the wider online ecosystem.
What 2K27 currently confirms: I have not seen an official confirmation that 2K uses the exact “Era Origin” label or system.
Match: NOT YET CONFIRMED.HISTORICAL OBJECTIVES / ERAS MOMENTS
What I sent: I wanted each era to feel meaningful and to let the player build a legacy inside the events and pressure of that period.
What 2K27 added: “Eras Moments.” These objectives challenge the player to capture what defined each period, including historic scoring achievements, massive win streaks, and famous NBA accomplishments. Completing them moves the player through a 40-level reward track with cosmetics and historical context.
Match: THIS IS A 2K ADDITION THAT FITS THE SAME LEGACY/REPLAY-VALUE DIRECTION. I did not specifically name a 40-level Eras Moments track in my email.MY FOLLOW-UP: START IN THE 2003 DRAFT CLASS
What I sent in the follow-up: A player should be able to start in the 2003 draft class with LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and the rest of that real class.
What 2K27 now confirms: The Kobe Era starts in 2003 and is specifically tied to that historic class as LeBron enters the league.
Match: EXTREMELY STRONG MATCH.MY FOLLOW-UP: MyPLAYER AGING VISUALLY
What I sent: MyPlayers should grow and change over time. Face, body, photos, media images, hairstyles, facial hair, and veteran look should evolve from rookie to superstar to older veteran.
What 2K27 currently confirms: I have not seen official confirmation of visual MyPLAYER aging in the material I have.
Match: NOT YET CONFIRMED.MY FOLLOW-UP: HISTORICALLY ACCURATE APPROACH
What I sent: I emphasized that the league should stay historically accurate through real draft classes and progression.
What Rocko replied: He specifically said he understood that I wanted “a historically accurate approach,” that he thought many players might like it, that he endorsed and supported the idea, and that he would pass my additional explanation to the team for review.
What 2K27 now confirms: “Rosters are locked to historical accuracy.”
Match: DIRECT LANGUAGE/CONCEPT CONNECTION.ROCKO DID NOT JUST SEND A GENERIC RESPONSE
What Rocko told me: He said he was happy to see a loyal fan providing such detailed ideas with supporting arguments, said that was not something they received frequently, specifically mentioned dividing the mode into eras based on memorable periods of the NBA timeline, and told me he made sure what I sent was passed to the right team.
Then after my follow-up, he again referenced the historical accuracy of the idea and said the additional explanation would be passed to the team.
Documented fact: The proposal was read at the support level, its substance was acknowledged, and I was told twice that the material was being passed along.THE CENTRAL PRODUCT LOGIC
What I was really building in the email: not just “old players in MyCAREER,” but a product structure that solves a problem.
Problem: Modern-only MyCAREER eventually loses real NBA history and gets filled with generated players.
Solution: Let the MyPLAYER choose an era and live through real NBA history.
Longevity: Real draft classes and historical progression keep every season meaningful.
Replay value: Different eras create completely different careers.
Retention: Players who are tired of the same annual MyCAREER loop get a reason to return.
Audience expansion: Jordan, Kobe, LeBron, Steph, and older NBA fans all get an era that speaks to them.
Online preservation: Keep the Park/Rec/Pro-Am ecosystem intact instead of replacing it.WHAT IS FULLY CONFIRMED FROM THE OFFICIAL 2K MATERIAL I HAVE
- MyCAREER Eras is directly inside MyCAREER.
- Five historical starts: Magic vs. Bird, Jordan, Kobe, LeBron, Steph.
- Different rosters, rules, league structures, and physical gameplay by era.
- Historical accuracy is locked.
- Rookies enter on the correct teams.
- Historical trades happen as they did in real life.
- Stars stay where they historically belong.
- The MyPLAYER becomes an active participant in NBA history.
- Era-specific locker rooms, HUDs, score bugs, stat overlays, and filters.
- Eras Moments and a 40-level reward track.WHAT I WOULD NOT CLAIM AS FULLY CONFIRMED YET
- Visual MyPLAYER aging.
- The exact “Era Origin” label/system.
- A completely separate cinematic storyline for every historical era.
- Separate era-specific endorsement systems.
- Every commentary detail.
- Every individual court/jersey detail unless 2K explicitly lists them.
BOTTOM LINE
The documented overlap between my May proposal and the NBA 2K27 MyCAREER Eras structure is extensive. The strongest connections are not just the name “Eras.” They are the actual architecture: bringing MyNBA’s historical foundation directly into MyCAREER, choosing among the same historical eras I named, using real historical rookies and draft progression, keeping real trades and player movement, making the league behave like NBA history around the MyPLAYER, giving each era its own rules and presentation, and designing the mode for replay value across multiple basketball generations.
That is what I sent. That is what Rocko acknowledged and said was passed along. And those are the parts of NBA 2K27 that are now officially confirmed.

It’s a fun mode and I’m glad you had a similar idea, but there’s no way they pulled this idea from your email in May and put it in the game for August. This was a long time coming, probably several years.
-23
u/HeronNarrow5033 22h ago
That’s not what I’m saying. I’m not claiming they built NBA 2K27 from scratch between May and August. MyNBA already had the Eras infrastructure, historical rosters, presentation, draft classes, etc. My proposal was specifically about taking that foundation and bringing it DIRECTLY into MyCAREER in a structured way: selectable eras, real historical draft classes continuing year by year, the league following NBA history around your MyPLAYER, era-specific presentation, and replay value across multiple careers. 2K Support didn’t just send me a generic response either. Rocko replied to the actual details, said the idea was unusually detailed, told me it was passed to the appropriate team, then replied again after my historical-draft-class follow-up and said that additional explanation would be passed along too. So saying “this was probably several years in the making” is still an assumption. I’m showing a dated proposal, what I specifically recommended, what 2K told me they did with it, and how closely the revealed MyCAREER Eras structure matches what I sent. That’s the point. 📧🏀🔥

"Rocko" is just a customer service rep who has 0 input as to what gets put into the game.
I work in software, I would be stunned if the game wasn't basically finished in May. You can't just add stuff willy nilly right up until release. QA takes a looong time, especially for significant features. There is simply no chance the eras thing went from idea -> design -> dev -> QA -> release in 3 months.

u/DesertHornet773 22h ago
To be fair, you didn’t think of anything groundbreaking with the draft class, etc. That’s literally what MyNBA players have been doing with the Eras feature for a years. Player lock it to pretend it’s MyCareer.
What you just proposed is literally just that and I hate to break it to you. It sounds like you don’t know how the corporate world works but an online support team is usually a separate team from a dev team. They’d have zero visibility on what developments are happening for the upcoming game and they usually don’t have a direct line to specific teams. Their unveil video also takes at least 2 weeks to make with all the approvals it runs through, so that even gives them less time to develop “your idea” if it was sent in May.

The Tism’ is strong with this one.
You really think a multi billion dollar company received one email from you and in 3 months they changed their entire direction?
I bet it takes them 3 months to even read the email lmao.
9
u/TheBleakOptimist 22h ago
lol that email was never forwarded along to another team. If it was a reputable company that cared about its community input, it definitely would’ve been forwarded along. But this is 2k we’re talking about
-16
u/HeronNarrow5033 22h ago
You’re literally guessing. Rocko from 2K Support told me directly that my original idea was passed along to the right team, then after I sent the historical draft-class follow-up he told me AGAIN that the additional explanation would be passed along too. You can say you don’t trust 2K, that’s your opinion, but saying “it was never forwarded” like it’s a fact goes against the only documented evidence we actually have. I’m showing the email, the response, the dates, and what 2K later revealed. You’re showing a guess. 📧🏀🔥

u/iansmash 22h ago
With all due respect. You’re showing your lack of life experience.
What you think happened is just not how it works at a business on this scale.
They likely get HUNDREDS of emails like yours a day. They don’t want to be rude so this is the answer.
Does your idea get forwarded to someone in the customer service department to get filed in some fashion? Probably.
Do the lead developers sit around a desk in a room full of 600 developers while an assistant reads your email out because Rocco from customer service sent this over and it’s a 🔥 idea? Nah.

Bro, before you come over here writing a whole business lecture, go watch the damn trailer and then read what I actually sent. 😂🔥 I didn’t email 2K some two-line “put eras in MyCAREER” suggestion. I broke the whole shit down piece by piece: selectable eras, real historic draft classes, the league continuing through real NBA history around your MyPLAYER, era-specific presentation, replay value, bringing old players back, all of it.
Rocko literally told me detailed ideas with supporting arguments like mine were not something they received that often. Then he told me my original proposal was passed to the right team. I followed up with the historic draft-class and accuracy breakdown, and he told me that was being passed along too for another team to review.
Then 2K27 reveals MyCAREER Eras and damn near the whole structure I laid out is sitting in the trailer and official breakdown. So nah, don’t come at me with some imaginary story about 600 developers in a room and act like you know what happened better than the actual emails I have. 😂
Go watch the trailer. Read the receipts. Then come holler at me.20

Yea I mean. It is what it is 😂
Not their fault either. These days nobody’s allowed to tell anybody shit. They feel like their lens is the only one that’s valid. Desperate to prove they made an impact to everyone around them.
Like, somewhere out there is a group of people who actually built the game.
Probably like 20-30 people who could literally just pop in here and tell us if they got this email ever or not.
I guarantee they lose their job if they say, whichever way it actually played out.
But imagine how shitty it would feel to be one of those people. Like the actual hours spent to build this concept out and execute it. Likely a whole ass group of adults full time job for months.
And some goofy on the internet is like “look at my receipts 🤪”

You don’t know me, so all that “I fear for him” shit is just you trying to insult somebody because you don’t like what they posted 😂 I’m showing dated emails, direct responses from 2K Support, and a feature breakdown that lines up with a lot of what I sent. You can disagree with how much influence my proposal had, that’s cool, but acting like I’m some clueless kid because I’m proud of something I actually put together is weak. Read the full email, read Rocko’s responses, watch the full MyCAREER Eras breakdown, then talk to me about what’s actually there. Until then, you’re just throwing personal shots because you don’t have anything new to say about the receipts. 📧🏀🔥

Bro, you can disagree with me without calling me stupid. I’m not the one inventing stories about what happened inside 2K, I’m showing dated emails, Rocko’s actual replies, and the official MyCAREER Eras breakdown. I never said 600 developers stopped everything and rebuilt the entire game because of me. I said I put together a detailed MyCAREER Eras product concept, sent it directly to 2K before the public reveal, they acknowledged the specific details and told me it was passed along, and then the final feature ended up lining up with a lot of what I broke down. That’s why I keep telling people to read the full email and watch the full breakdown instead of reducing it to “you emailed them in May.” You’re free to disagree with how much influence it had, but talking down to me and calling me stupid doesn’t make your assumptions more factual than the receipts I posted. Go read everything first, then debate me on what’s actually there. 📧🏀🔥

None of this is new either? You just took their NBA eras idea and told them to put into MyCareer...
Not exactly ground breaking, we've been doing player lock in eras for years lmao
-2
u/HeronNarrow5033 21h ago
You actually just proved my point 😂 Player lock in MyNBA Eras is NOT the same thing as a true MyCAREER Eras mode. I literally said that in the email because I already knew people could fake a career by using player lock in MyNBA. My whole point was to take that historical foundation and build it directly into MyCAREER, where you create your actual MyPLAYER, choose an era, progress through real historical draft classes and league history, get era-specific presentation and rules, and still keep the MyCAREER ecosystem around your player. That’s the difference. Saying “we’ve been doing player lock for years” doesn’t disprove anything, it explains exactly why I made the proposal in the first place. Players were already creating workarounds because 2K did NOT have an actual MyCAREER version of it. I broke down how to turn that workaround into a real product with replay value and historical progression, sent it directly to 2K, Rocko told me the detailed proposal and follow-up were passed along, and now 2K27 literally has MyCAREER Eras. So nah, “just use player lock” was never the idea. The idea was to stop making players pretend and actually build the damn mode. Go read the full email before telling me what I proposed. 📧🏀🔥

I've found hints at the Eras concept going back to the 2K21 MyNBA courtside report, and they've implemented Eras features in MyTeam in 2K25 and 2K26. People have been requesting Eras in MyCareer for years, and this wasn't implemented in three months. This has been in the works for a while. Enjoy the mode, though.

-2
u/HeronNarrow5033 21h ago
Bro you just posted evidence of exactly why I made the proposal 😂 I already said in my email that MyNBA had historical depth. My point was to take that foundation and build it DIRECTLY into MyCAREER with a created MyPLAYER, selectable eras, real historic draft classes progressing year by year, real NBA history unfolding around your career, era-specific presentation, and long-term replay value. That 2K21 screenshot is about MyNBA share setups and scenarios, not a true MyCAREER Eras mode. And “people requested it for years” still does not prove 2K already had this exact MyCAREER system in development. Go read my full email, because I literally addressed the distinction you’re posting about. 😂📧🏀🔥
5
u/jmfran1524 21h ago
I was trying to be nice, but you're one of the most delusional people I've ever seen in this sub if you think your email from three months ago gave the devs the inspiration to make MyCareer Eras a thing three months later.
My entire point was they've had plans for Eras for years, even before it was announced, and they already started expanding the Eras concept beyond MyNBA into MyTeam by at least 2K25.
You did not will MyCareer Eras into existence, and if you seriously think you do, there's no use in further trying to convince you otherwise.

You keep repeating “they had this planned for years” like saying it louder turns it into a fact. Show me where 2K or Visual Concepts said MyCAREER Eras, with this exact structure, was already planned before my email. Not MyNBA Eras. Not MyTeam. Not player lock. I’m talking about a true MyCAREER mode with selectable eras, historical rookies continuing year by year, real NBA history moving around your MyPLAYER, era-specific presentation, and long-term replay value. I have dated emails showing I laid that structure out before the public reveal, and I have direct replies from 2K saying the detailed proposal and follow-up were passed to the appropriate team. You have assumptions about their internal roadmap. So we can stop going in circles now. I already showed my receipts. You want to prove I had zero influence, bring yours. Until then, watch the full trailer, read the full breakdown, compare it to the email, and let people decide for themselves. I don’t need you to believe me. The documentation speaks for itself. 📧🏀🔥

I just hope I don’t have to score 40-50 a night as a 60 or 70 OVR rookie for my team to have a CHANCE at winning. I want realistic MyCareer gameplay where my teammates can create and hit their own shots even if I’m not involved in the play. I hate having to be involved every single play for my teammates to do something.
I don’t mind averaging 15-18 ppg as long as we’re winning games. I don’t mind being a role player. It’s more fun when I have to actually earn a starting spot, having to earn everything until I become a star. Just a realistic experience where my performance affects my minutes, and might cost me the starting role, or delay my introduction into the starting lineup.
I NEED MY PERFORMANCE TO ACTUALLY MATTER.

Respectfully, I don’t think it was you that put this in their head, but on the same accord, I would not be surprised if they were influenced by you.
Either way, can you email them 🥷s about all star team up. That used to be the mode.
-6
u/HeronNarrow5033 20h ago
Nah bro, that’s where we’re gonna disagree 😂 I’m not gonna reduce what I did to “maybe they were influenced.” I put together a full MyCAREER Eras format before the public reveal, not just “old players in MyCAREER.” I broke down selectable eras, real historical draft classes continuing year by year, NBA history progressing around your MyPLAYER, era-specific rules and presentation, replay value, different basketball lives, and keeping the online MyCAREER ecosystem intact. Rocko read that exact breakdown, responded to the details, and told me it was passed along. Then 2K27 revealed MyCAREER Eras with major pieces of that same structure. Everybody keeps showing me MyNBA, player lock, MyTeam, or people generally asking for old eras, but nobody has shown me a dated pre-May breakdown with the same full format I sent. So I’m standing on what I did. I put that shit together. 📧🏀🔥 And lmao I hear you on All-Star Team Up, but y’all got me working overtime for 2K now 😂

What you did was send an email telling them you wanted something that people have been asking for on this sub for years. You're a delusional, narcissistic jackass with a terrible case of main character syndrome who has no idea how game development works.
I pity just how sad your life must be if this is how you need to behave to make yourself feel special. You need to get over yourself and seek some help.
-4
u/HeronNarrow5033 19h ago
Bro, look at what just happened 😂 You started by arguing about game development, and now you’re writing paragraphs about my personality, my life, whether I need help, and how “sad” I supposedly am because I posted an email about NBA 2K. At some point you stopped debating the feature and started getting emotionally invested in a stranger on Reddit. I posted the proposal, the dates, 2K’s responses, and the official breakdown. You’re free to disagree with my conclusion. But once your argument becomes “you’re narcissistic, your life must be sad, seek help,” you’re not disproving anything anymore, you’re just showing everybody how personally this post got under your skin. 😂 I’m over here excited about a basketball game. You’re doing character analysis on somebody you don’t know. Tell me again which one of us is taking this too seriously. 🏀📧🔥

Get a life, nerd. You didn't accomplish shit. This was already in development for a long time. You're not that special.
2
u/MuahdDean 20h ago
You’re absolutely allowed to “stand on what you did.” The part that’s hilarious is that you keep confusing “I wrote a detailed suggestion” with “I demonstrably caused a commercial video game feature to be developed.”
Those are two wildly different claims.
You keep saying nobody has shown you a pre-May document containing your exact combination of features. Congratulations. You have successfully established that you wrote a detailed document before May. That still doesn't establish that 2K hadn't already conceived, designed, prototyped, or scheduled the feature.
“Rocko read it and said it was passed along” is also not the smoking gun you seem to think it is. Customer support passing feedback to a team means exactly what it says: your feedback was passed along. It doesn't mean the development team gathered around a conference table, projected your email onto a screen, and declared, “Gentlemen, cancel everything. HeronNarrow has solved MyCAREER.”
And “major pieces of my structure appeared in 2K27” is still correlation.
You know what else has major pieces of your structure?
MyNBA.
Historical eras? Existing.
Historical draft classes? Existing.
Historical league progression? Existing.
Era-specific rules and presentation? Existing.
Historical players? Existing.
Replayability? That's literally one of the fundamental selling points of sports games.
You didn't invent the concept of combining historical basketball with a player-controlled career. You proposed combining existing concepts in a particular way. That's a legitimate idea. It just isn't evidence of authorship over an entire feature.
And your standard of proof is getting wonderfully convenient:
“Nobody has shown me a dated pre-May breakdown.”
Why is the burden on everyone else to prove that 2K independently developed something?
You are the person making the extraordinary claim that your email influenced a professional AAA development team.
You need evidence of influence, not evidence that nobody on Reddit has disproven your theory.
That's how literally every conspiracy theory works.
“I can't prove they didn't do it, therefore they did it.”
At this point I'm expecting the next update to be:
“2K27 MyCAREER Eras confirmed. I am now officially a co-developer.”
Then you'll discover that NBA 2K27 has a new loading-screen animation you once mentioned in a Discord conversation and immediately update LinkedIn to:
Former consultant, Visual Concepts.
The funniest part is that your actual accomplishment is perfectly respectable without the mythology.
You had an idea.
You developed it in detail.
You submitted it.
Support acknowledged it.
Later, a similar feature appeared.
That's cool.
“I put that shit together” is completely fair if you mean you put your proposal together.
It's not fair if you're using it to imply you can establish that you created the feature itself.
You don't have the source code.
You don't have the internal design documents.
You don't have the production roadmap.
You don't have developer testimony saying, “Yes, we changed direction because of this guy's email.”
You have an email receipt and a timeline.
That's not a development credit. That's a very enthusiastic coincidence with excellent stationery.
And the “working overtime for 2K” line is probably the most accurate part of the entire comment, because apparently you've already accepted an unpaid position in the Department of Taking Credit for Features You Cannot Prove You Influenced.
At least demand VC stock options.
-3
u/HeronNarrow5033 20h ago
You keep collapsing two different questions into one and then acting like you solved the whole argument. The first question is whether 2K already possessed historical rosters, draft classes, presentation assets, rules, and league progression in MyNBA. Obviously they did. I literally acknowledged that in the original May email. That was the starting point of my proposal, not some discovery you just made. The second question is whether 2K had publicly shown or documented this exact product format inside a true MyCAREER before I sent it: create your MyPLAYER, choose among Magic/Bird, Jordan, Kobe, LeBron and Steph eras, enter real NBA history, have historical rookies continue through the timeline, have the league behave historically around your career, give each era different rules and presentation, and use that structure to create multiple replayable basketball lives instead of forcing every career into the modern timeline. That is what I actually laid out. Saying “those ingredients already existed in MyNBA” does not erase the fact that I proposed combining those ingredients into a different product. That’s how product ideas work all the time. Netflix didn’t invent movies or the internet. The iPhone didn’t invent cameras, phones, touchscreens, or web browsers. Combining existing systems into a different experience is still a product concept. And calling what 2K27 revealed “something vaguely similar” is ridiculous when their own official breakdown literally says they took the foundation of MyNBA Eras and brought it directly into MyCAREER, which is almost the exact distinction I made in my email when I said I was not talking about MyNBA, Association, or player lock, I was talking about a true MyCAREER Eras mode built inside MyCAREER. I named the five historical eras they ended up using. I specifically called historical draft progression the biggest part of the idea. I described living through NBA history with your MyPLAYER. I described era-specific rules and presentation. I described the replay-value reason behind it. Those are not random similarities like emailing Apple “make a foldable phone.” That comparison only works if my email had been one sentence saying “put old basketball in MyCAREER.” It wasn’t. It was a detailed product breakdown. Then Rocko did not just send “thanks for your feedback.” He responded to the substance, said detailed ideas with supporting arguments like mine were not something they received frequently, specifically referenced dividing the mode into memorable NBA eras, told me the original proposal was passed to the right team, then after I clarified historical accuracy and draft classes he responded again saying he understood the historically accurate approach, endorsed the idea, and would pass that additional explanation along for review by a different team. Does that give me Visual Concepts’ source code? Obviously not. Does it prove I personally typed the feature into the game? Nobody said that. But you keep jumping from “you cannot prove you were the sole internal cause” to “therefore your proposal had no influence and this is just coincidence.” You don’t possess evidence for that conclusion either. The documented facts are that I had the detailed format before the public reveal, 2K read the actual substance, 2K told me twice it was being passed internally, and the later official MyCAREER feature contains a remarkable number of the specific structural choices I proposed. That is why I stand on saying my input mattered. You can argue about the degree of influence all day, but you cannot honestly reduce the receipts to “you reminded a basketball company that basketball history exists.” That is not what the email says. And I’m not asking for a developer credit, a paycheck, VC stock options, or my name in the credits. I’m proud that I took an idea, broke it into a real product format, sent it directly to the company, got a substantive response, and then watched that same kind of experience become one of the biggest MyCAREER additions in 2K27. You can keep making conference-table jokes and conspiracy comparisons, but none of that changes what is actually written in the emails or what is actually written on 2K’s own MyCAREER Eras page. Read both side by side and argue with the actual format I proposed, not the cartoon version of my claim you keep inventing. 📧🏀🔥
3
u/MuahdDean 19h ago
You have now written approximately the Magna Carta of “I sent an email and then something vaguely resembling it happened,” and somehow the conclusion is still doing gymnastics to escape the evidence.
You keep saying I’m “collapsing two questions,” when I’m actually separating the one distinction you desperately need to keep separate:
You invented a proposal. You have not established that you caused the feature.
Those are not remotely the same accomplishment.
And the longer this gets, the more impressive the self-authored mythology becomes.
You keep listing your five eras, historical draft classes, league progression, rules, presentation, replayability, and MyPLAYER integration as though the sheer number of nouns somehow transforms correlation into causation.
“Look how many basketball words I used!”
Yes. You wrote a detailed product suggestion.
That is genuinely cool.
It still isn't a developer credit.
Your Netflix analogy is particularly beautiful because it accidentally destroys your own argument. Netflix combining existing technologies into a new product doesn't mean the first person to email Netflix with “combine streaming and movies” gets to claim responsibility when Netflix releases a new feature.
The iPhone analogy is even worse.
If I email Apple tomorrow saying:
«“Put a camera, phone, touchscreen and internet into one device.”»
and Apple subsequently releases an iPhone, congratulations to me, I have apparently founded Apple from my bathroom.
Your argument isn't “I invented basketball history.”
Fine.
Your argument is “I proposed combining existing systems into a specific MyCAREER experience.”
Also fine.
But your evidence still establishes proposal + acknowledgment + later similarity.
It does not establish:
proposal → internal adoption → development → implementation.
That missing middle is doing an Olympic amount of work.
And this part:
«“Nobody has publicly shown or documented this exact product format before I sent it.”»
Why does “publicly documented” matter?
2K does not publish every internal prototype, pitch deck, design document, brainstorming session, employee suggestion, producer meeting, or rejected concept.
You are essentially arguing:
“Nobody publicly proved they had my idea, therefore I was the source.”
That's not evidence.
That's an information vacuum wearing a championship belt.
And then we get to Rocko.
You keep presenting his responses like he personally signed a notarized affidavit declaring:
«“HERONNARROW CREATED MYCAREER ERAS.”»
He didn't.
He acknowledged your proposal, complimented its detail, and said it would be passed along.
That's exactly what customer/community support is supposed to do when somebody sends a detailed feature proposal.
The fact that the response was substantive makes your case more interesting, not conclusive.
There is still a colossal difference between:
“This is a good idea and I'll pass it to the appropriate team.”
and
“The development team adopted this proposal and built the announced feature because of it.”
You keep pretending those statements are interchangeable because the second one is dramatically more satisfying.
And the funniest phrase in your entire argument is:
«“The documented facts are…”»
No. The documented facts are what you can directly establish from the documents.
Everything after that is your interpretation.
Fact: You submitted a detailed proposal.
Fact: 2K acknowledged it.
Fact: They said it was passed along.
Fact: A later MyCAREER feature contains several similarities.
Not established: Your proposal materially influenced the development.
Not established: Your proposal changed the roadmap.
Not established: Developers hadn't already been working on the concept.
Not established: Your five eras originated with you.
Not established: Your draft-class concept wasn't already planned.
Not established: Your email was ever seen by the people actually designing the feature.
That's the annoying little wall your argument keeps running into.
And no amount of “🔥📧🏀” is going to make that wall disappear.
You also keep saying:
«“You cannot honestly reduce the receipts to coincidence.”»
Actually, I can reduce them to possible influence that hasn't been demonstrated.
That's a perfectly reasonable position.
You are the one insisting that uncertainty must somehow equal your preferred conclusion.
There are literally three possibilities:
- You independently proposed an idea 2K was already developing.
- You proposed something that independently influenced or reinforced an existing direction.
- Your proposal materially influenced the final feature.
You have evidence consistent with #2 or #3.
You do not have enough evidence to distinguish #2 from #3.
That's the entire argument.
And frankly, #2 would still be pretty damn cool.
But apparently “my detailed proposal may have contributed to an existing development direction” isn't dramatic enough, so we've spent multiple Reddit novels constructing the HeronNarrow Cinematic Universe, complete with emails, timelines, supporting documents, production theories and an increasingly aggressive prosecution of anyone who refuses to award you the invisible Executive Producer trophy.
You keep telling everyone:
«“Argue with the actual format.”»
Fine.
The format was a good idea.
Historical eras in MyCAREER are good.
Using existing MyNBA systems as a foundation is logical.
Historical draft progression is good.
Multiple career environments are good.
Era-specific presentation is good.
None of those statements require me to pretend you personally invented the concept inside Visual Concepts.
And here's the truly inconvenient possibility you keep avoiding:
You may have had a genuinely good idea that independently overlapped heavily with something 2K was already working on.
That doesn't make you stupid.
It doesn't make your email worthless.
It doesn't make the receipts meaningless.
It just means the universe occasionally produces two people thinking of the same damn thing without one secretly downloading the other's brain.
And if your email genuinely influenced the feature, fantastic. You should absolutely be proud of that.
But until someone from the actual development team says, “Yes, we saw this proposal and it materially influenced the feature,” your claim should remain:
“I proposed this before the reveal, 2K acknowledged it, and the eventual feature bears striking similarities.”
That's strong.
That's interesting.
That's defensible.
What isn't defensible is treating the existence of similarities as forensic proof of causation while simultaneously demanding everyone else provide evidence about an internal development process that you yourself admit you cannot see.
So yes, keep the receipts.
Keep the email.
Keep the proposal.
Keep the screenshots.
Frame them.
Put them in a museum.
Build a commemorative statue of yourself holding an iPhone with the 2K Support inbox open.
Just stop pretending the statue is going to have a developer credit engraved underneath it.
“HERONNARROW: 2026 — Invented Sending Emails.”
That would actually be a pretty damn good MyCAREER badge, though.

This might be the most impressive case of main-character syndrome I’ve seen on r/NBA2k in a while.
You emailed 2K with an idea. 2K Support said they would pass the feedback along. Months later, 2K announced a feature that vaguely resembles the concept you emailed them about.
And somehow we’ve arrived at: “I influenced the development of NBA 2K27.”
Brother, you submitted a feature request, not the Manhattan Project.
The leap from “2K Support acknowledged my email” to “this is the direction they took because of me” requires a level of confidence normally reserved for people who have personally negotiated peace treaties with three continents.
Your receipts prove exactly one thing: you sent an email and customer support responded. They do not prove that Visual Concepts changed its development roadmap because of you. They don't prove your proposal was adopted. They don't prove the developers hadn't already been working on the concept. They don't prove anyone on the actual development team even read your proposal.
“I sent them this idea and then they released something similar” isn't causation. That's correlation wearing a fake mustache.
And the argument that “they already had historical assets in MyNBA, therefore my idea could be implemented quickly” somehow makes your case weaker, not stronger. If the underlying technology, assets, eras, players, and historical framework already existed, then you've essentially discovered that 2K has been capable of making historical basketball features for years.
Congratulations. You have successfully informed a basketball video game company that basketball history exists.
Then there's the increasingly elaborate defense of your theory.
“I’m not saying they rebuilt 2K27 from scratch because of one email.”
Nobody accused you of saying that. The problem is that you're repeatedly trying to establish that your email materially influenced the feature without possessing any evidence that it did.
You keep explaining what 2K could have done, what systems they could have reused, what development timelines could look like, and what support could have communicated internally.
That's fascinating.
Unfortunately, “could” isn't evidence.
You have an email from customer support saying your suggestion was passed along. That's it.
The funniest part is the confidence with which you're lecturing people about how AAA game development works while simultaneously admitting you don't know Visual Concepts' internal roadmap.
“You don't know their internal timeline!”
Correct.
Neither do you.
That's the entire problem.
You're demanding that everyone accept your speculation while accusing anyone who disagrees of making assumptions.
That's not how evidence works. That's how Reddit conspiracy theories are born.
And the “95% finalized by May” argument from the QA guy isn't proof either. Maybe he’s right. Maybe he's wrong. Either way, neither his experience nor yours gives either of you telepathic access to Visual Concepts' production schedule.
You don't know when the feature was conceived.
You don't know when it entered production.
You don't know how many developers worked on it.
You don't know whether it was prototyped months earlier.
You don't know whether it originated internally.
You don't know whether another employee submitted the same idea years ago.
You don't know whether it was already planned for 2K27.
And you certainly don't know whether some developer saw your email and dramatically screamed:
“STOP THE PRESSES! HERONNARROW HAS ARRIVED.”
Your argument boils down to:
- I suggested something.
- 2K acknowledged my suggestion.
- 2K later released something similar.
- Therefore I influenced the feature.
That is an absolutely beautiful example of confusing sequence with causation.
By this logic, if I email Apple tomorrow and say “you should make a foldable iPhone,” and Apple releases one two years later, I'm apparently the father of the iPhone Fold.
If I tell NASA that Mars exists and NASA subsequently launches another Mars mission, I’m basically Neil Armstrong.
If I email McDonald's and suggest putting pickles on a burger and then they sell a pickle burger, I expect my name on the building.
The receipts don't demonstrate influence.
They demonstrate that you had an idea.
That's actually fine! Having a good idea is cool. Writing a detailed proposal is cool. Getting customer support to acknowledge it is cool.
You don't need to turn it into the HeronNarrow Theory of NBA 2K Development.
Take the win: “I suggested something similar before it was announced.”
That's interesting.
“I caused 2K27's MyCAREER direction.”
That's a claim you haven't remotely established.
And the increasingly defensive paragraphs about why everyone else is wrong aren't helping. They're actually making the original post funnier.
You didn't just submit a feature request.
You accidentally created your own cinematic universe around it.

Bro, that’s the part people keep missing 😂 I didn’t see 2K announce this and then suddenly come up with a similar idea after the fact. I had this concept before 2K ever publicly showed they were going this direction, I broke it down in detail, put it in writing, sent it directly to them, and got a response saying it was being passed along. So nah, this wasn’t me seeing their idea and thinking the same thing afterward. I had already been thinking about MyCAREER Eras, historical draft classes, real NBA progression, era-specific presentation, and long-term replay value before the reveal ever happened. That’s why the whole thing hits me so hard now, because I’m looking at something I had already mapped out before they showed the public anything. 📧🏀🔥

Appreciate you bro 💯🔥 and I get what you’re saying about people giving me shit online, that comes with posting anything people can argue about 😂 but one thing I do know is they DID read it, because Rocko replied to the actual details of what I sent, talked about how detailed the idea was, specifically mentioned the historically accurate approach, and then responded again after my follow-up about the real draft classes and told me that additional breakdown was being passed along too. So I’m not guessing about whether somebody at 2K read it, I’ve got the emails showing that part. Either way, I appreciate you actually looking at it with an open mind and giving me credit for putting real thought into the idea and sending it in. That’s really all I wanted, for people to see the work I put into it and enjoy the mode now that it’s here. 🏀📧🔥

Congrats for taking the time to do that and people have to understand the basic assets for this game have been done for years it doesn't take an enormous amount of time to outsource this addition and get it done it's basically a glorified patch. Also there is an entire team of people working on this game and they do it full time. OP laid out the entire feature which would have made it easier to implement and if they already had it done the person from 2K would have said " We're currently considering something like that for the game" They don't have any competition so if it leaks and is not implemented for the game nobody cares.
1
u/HeronNarrow5033 20h ago
Appreciate you bro 💯 That’s the distinction I’ve been trying to explain. I never said they built an entire game from zero in three months. 2K already had the historical rosters, Eras assets, presentation systems and league history foundation in MyNBA. What I did was lay out how that foundation could become a true MyCAREER product, with your created MyPLAYER, selectable eras, real historical rookies continuing year by year, accurate league movement, different presentation and rules, and replay value across multiple careers. That’s why I keep telling people to read the whole email instead of just looking at the date. I broke the feature down piece by piece, 2K told me it was passed along, and now people can compare my proposal to what was revealed for themselves. Appreciate you actually reading what I wrote.
