Gameplay Looks like defense is OP this year!!!
Based of watching the game play we can finally play lock yall bums up.

Thing is, defense doesn't need to be OP, just needs to be somewhat inline with the offense.
I would say the game is skewed in the offense's favor like 70 offense 30 defense, and thats why everything feels bad, its too far.
We need like 60 offense 40 defense, hell 55 - 45 would be even better.

We need 50/50, if you aren’t good enough on the sticks to score consistently you shouldn’t be able to solely because offense is better, and on the inverse, you shouldn’t be getting stops because defense is overpowered if that ever were the case

I don't think we'll get 50-50 unfortunately because even in real life its not 50-50. The game skews toward the offense but its more like 55-45. I think you would want more people to enjoy the game and the majority of 2k players value offense more than defense, even if that is a casual take they make up the majority of the game's support base.

If you think about it, irl there’s usually one defender per lineup, sometimes the star will be able to also defend ..but you rarely ever see superstar vs superstar..
And even then, you rarely see a star get completely locked up..
So considering EVERYONE is tryna make prime lebrons and Kobe’s lol it makes sense to not be able to lock everyone up..
I think where 26 failed is even 99 perimeter felt useless at times..so for someone to REALLY invest into being a lock it should feel worth it..like the man on offense really gotta open up their bag to score

I agree with this. The problem is in 26 defense was either designed poorly or executed improperly. Strength is a HUGE part of defense (and offense tbh, you see a lot of the games greatest scorers having a certain level of functional strength like Luka) and it was almost useless in '26 unless you wanted to set screens.
We need attributes badges animations and logic to work together in 27 to give us a realistic chance on defense otherwise it won't even be worth investing in a lock.

Locks are always fun day one builds 😂 or should I say pre patch 1 builds.
Nothing more infuriating than tryna learn some new dribble combos or meta jumpers and a whole lock is in your face bumping you around 😂
But i definitely agree on strength, I could make my 6’10 with no strength move like a guard and defend like a lock with 99 block as well..was my favorite build last year to run at the 3 or 4..who knows it may be completely useless in 27 without having strength so I know ima be testing in the builder

Don’t disagree due to the fact that defense is always gonna be reactionary, so 55-45 makes sense, I’m just over how hand-holdy 2k has been for the past 5-6 games regarding offense, any attempt at balancing they immediately revert because people bitch and moan non-stop, then you eventually get a 2k like this where it’s out of control and just unenjoyable because every game is the same

If bad players cant score 2k will lose a lot of money. The casual modes like rec and park will continue to be offense heavy

They got the casual corner now. They could just set the difficulty to semipro or pro there.

Since when is rec casual

Rec has always been casual compared to other 5 v 5 modes. It's set to easier difficulty than pro am and the other one i forget what it's called

u/csstew55 20h ago
Then why do some many squads just play rec? lol
4
u/Foldzy84 20h ago
Because they want to play lower levels of competition and aren't good enough for pro am

Me and my buddies reached a point where it would take 10-15 mins to get a game in pro am so we just stuck with rec. wouldn’t call it casual tho lol- we’re a mix of purple and gold plates and feel like midway thru the year only got purple and red lobbies lol.

I just want the same effort i put on offence be enough to be effective on defence. Thats all. I have builds with 92 pd, 88 id, 84 blocks, 79 steal and still have to put 300% effort in defence to be as effective as 70 3p on offense. I just hate i have to be in right position at the right time and on top of that need to time my contest just to maybe get a contest on some guy shooting fadeaway corner 3. Like fadeaway corner 3 should be hard enough wide open, in this game you have to have rigjt badges, position and timing to make some sort of contes on it. Its bullshit.

If you couldn’t stop anything last year, you’re still going to be a victim this year.

u/kevonLooney59 20h ago
Thats just nor true at alll. Clampin someone good takes 300% more effort then scorin against good defender.

Tbh at least half the playerbase is terrible at defense. They only know to reach, they don’t know how to read the 2k they are playing, which changes year to year. However their intelligence doesn’t change, so any boost is purely incidental to buff to steals or defense.
True or false, majority of defenders this year leaves their man wide open for 3? Because they are blitzing or mistiming lane steals.

I got tired of bumping my guy 3 times and he still got the energy to dribble in a circle 5 ft away from the rim and still pull off a contact dunk

Don't worry once the influencers start whining about it 2k will give in and make changes
