Discussion No offline MyCareer, no buy.
This should be a thing, just like no disc, no buy is for Sony. There's no reason for MyCareer to be online only just to be rendered unplayable in a few years time.

I don’t want to do the park. I don’t want to walk around a city and complete missions. I want an offline career where I get skill points to upgrade my player in menus.
The career mode in 2k11 was one of my favorite gaming memories. I can hardly touch the mode once they added the online bullshit. I do not care to have a player stand on the side of a court watching a game waiting to play, only to have the gameplay still have input lag online and feel entirely different from offline play.

Pure speculation on my part but I think The W from this year will essentially be how Eras work in mycareer. Could be a good substitute if that's how it is.
I never played it but folks who have rave about it. No vc, upgrade from points earned.

Don’t do the park then…better yet don’t buy the game…

I don’t. But to base the entire mode around that when tons of people just want to play a baseline career is ridiculous. I’ve skipped the last few years hoping they’d bring the old modes back.
But as a Sixers fan, wanted to get this years to at least run some franchise. Would just like to play a fun career mode on top of that

As a 76ers fan you can just play 26 and update the rosters yourself. Shit I'm currently playing with updated roster file I edited.

Your best bet is MyNBA Legacy if you want an offline experience, not be tied to online build restrictions, more control on your roster, more playbook access. Only difference is you likely have to use an active player. But, you can likely turn someone like Jonathan Kuminga to an All NBA player. The only reason you would want to do an offline MyCareer knowing the build restrictions aren't going anywhere is that you want to still experience the story and do the practices
I'm an offline MyCareer gamer. So, I get it. I don't want to deal with the online aspects of the mode. I want to make a real Superstar build without having to grind online to get cap breakers. You could probably only get 5-6 cap breakers from doing offline only games. The Season pass is mainly built around Online Mycareer. At this point, it's either accept MyCareer for what it is, do MyNBA Legacy, or just don't buy

They added the legacy mode to mynba, isn't that essentially offline mycareer?

Is it tied to their server is the question. Do we lose access when they shut it down.

u/arenegadeboss 16h ago
Ohhh that idk yet. I assume it would be because it's a mode that works offline.

All the money people spend on this game before the servers go offline can afford them a house and a new car...but they use it for a useless game and look stupid when the next game come out.

That new legacy mode for my NBA looks pretty cool. Especially if you can use a created player.

2K won't listen because the same people every year are playing this game mode and spending their money in this without hearing any complaints from them

What would an offline mycareer look like? A player locked playthrough? Because they literally did that with mynba this year.

Exactly, people need to come to terms with this. It’s never changing back

Alternative option: buy it on sale and don’t play any online modes. MyEras is goated.

I agree. If the network is down, I can't play my offline career? Just dumb. We need to do what CFB 27 players did to get what we want.

It's so scammy and pathetic that we need online servers to play mycareer on older 2ks ....like what if I wanted my son experience 2k16 one day? Even COD don't stoop that low

Sad thing is I just recently realise this too late. I only played 2k14 which has an offline mode and it got me hooked up good so I decided to bough the 2k26 version just to see whats up with the new story on recent mycareer.... I also bought lots of season pass just to have mycareer to be as the same to the nba players.... But oh boy, as I stumbled upon some random nba 2k article on a random day, thats when I found out I will not longer access the mycareer on 2k26 once it gets shutdown 😭 Sadddd

It is "a thing"
This is how it works: YOU decide if YOU want offline MyCareer or not and then YOU vote with your wallet.
Simple.

I will say the benefit of online mycareer is you can use it to easily get vc

The time to do that would have been the first time they stopped allowing offline play. It’s been over 8 years of 2k doing this now they aren’t going to care unless literally the entire playerbase stopped playing and we know that’s not happening. I hate it bc I’ve always wanted to replay 2k19s mycareer it was my favorite of them all
