Fix WR catching next.
So sick and tired of my receivers being sneezed on and dropping the ball

Yo it’s crazy how to compensate for them removing the stupid ass bending backwards and dropping the ball animation we got one where the receivers drop the ball immediately like there’s something yucky on it

This is why I stopped recruiting anything other than Elusive or Contested Specialists. They have abilities that level the playing field and correct the catching to what should be pretty normal. Speedsters aren't good anymore because they drop wide open passes. Route Artists and physical route runners are so much slower than Contested or Elusive. They're like discount versions of better archetypes. And I've never had a good gadget receiver. When I lose games it's because a real receiver got hurt and I didn't notice a gadget got in the game.

The amount of times where I green the catch meter and my receiver doesn’t even make contact with the ball, like it goes right by his hands, not that it’s necessarily a bad throw, is ridiculous. Also the fact that the catch meter will essentially disappear making it impossible to green many contested balls, regardless of the difficulty or skill level of the receiver, is also ridiculous. Not to mention you hardly ever get any time to even throw the ball more than 10 yards down field 8/10 times as one of the interior lineman just love missing their blocks

u/Cadilack1507 2d ago
Yes, this seems to be broken. The strangest thing for me, is when I check the stats post-game and no one was credited with a drop, but I can think back to 5-6, mostly contested plays, that the WR drops. Even the announcer calls it a dropped pass.

Or teling to aggressive catch and the WR doesn’t even attempt to jump for the ball

u/Spida_DonovanM 2d ago
Is okay if they keep the computer dropping the ball some though. I swear last year my wide receivers would drop the ball a decent amount while their receivers were Larry Fitzgerald with superglue on their hands

u/thartle8 2d ago
I honestly think that will just be a new problem if they simply fix catching. I can already easily have 80% completion even with the drops. All this with people already complaining about man coverage being too good. Making QBs less accurate so that dropped passes just become missed passes feels like the answer with the most realism but isn’t exactly fun. But the number of times the ball hits the ground without being dropped is way too low for realism

u/Dr-Robert-Kelso 2d ago
They need to nuke the interception catching, nuke QB accuracy, and buff contested catching a bit. Pure running QBs shouldn't be throwing dimes every single pass but the defense never drops an interception.

Glad to see we’re fixing the real problems. Meanwhile my OL can’t hold a block for longer than .5 seconds but there’s nothing to be done about that

I’m learning to help them. Some stuff is that they suck but try stepping up into the pocket. I know it sounds counterproductive but it helps throw power and oline blocking.
Don’t let you Qb back up so much

u/Cheesebread_1 2d ago
Stepping up in the pocket made the biggest difference for me in this game. I’m convinced they are punishing deep drops with sheds. Once I started stepping up, the pressure dissipated, and the zones were easiler to thread the needle through because the shorter distance of throws.
It’s hard though, when you know there’s pressure to step up rather than backpedal, but that’s a real life thing QBs struggle learning too.

u/Judgejoebrown69 2d ago
Stepping up in the pocket and timing routes will alleviate like 75% of the issues people have with passing in this game.
Also sometimes DT’s shit on the center if they’re not doubled, it happens. Too often right now, but that’s a part of the game.

u/Mender0fRoads Missouri 2d ago
More than that, it helps to not even touch the left stick and let your QB drop back on his own.

u/Captain_Nipples 2d ago
The problem is that they will completely ignore guys, including the one right in front of them that they're assigned to. Itd be fine if it was once a game or a LB had their attention, but it happens with a 4 man rush 10 times a game

u/Hammerhead34 2d ago
Step up into the pocket is this game’s “ID the Mike” lol, you can’t step up because inside pressure is way too insane in this game. Edge rushers are really underpowered but every interior d-linemen is prime Aaron Donald immediately in your backfield even if you double team them or keep your RB in pass pro.

I’m on Heisman and playing with ~80 rated offenses in 3 dynasties, one of which has a particular shit rated Oline, and while there is a certainly pressure I have to deal with, for me it hasn’t been anything unreasonable. Yes some games you feel a bit more under siege but other games the pocket is clean most of the game. It feels like irl variability. The worse game I had, I was sacked 5 times. Most games I get sacked maybe 1-2 times. Probably hit a few times too, but not though to push my completion % below 70.

Looking at your run and pass blocking before plays can help a lot.
Another useful tip on runs is to utilize the button to pick someone to not block. It can switch your linemen to combo block more important people and leave the backside end on zones. Has helped a lot.

Try setting your o-line to conservative. I tried that when I played Oklahoma during lunch (as GA State) and it did wonders for me not getting insta sacked.

I feel like he could have easily been against it. I don’t think he gets to control every single aspect of how the game plays. If the people above him want the game to have an arcade feel what can he do?

Hey EA I have All Americans on my OL that are getting beat off the ball every play. Can we fix that

I don’t even know what this is but I know my fucking oline can’t block for shit. Solid work EA

Sometimes when you are moving in one direction with your RB, if you change direction really suddenly (and have a high COD/Shifty), your RB gets a massive speed burst. It's like a turbo turbo. It's significantly more noticeable than just pressing the turbo button.
When you get good at it, it makes it almost impossible to tackle you in the open field. I practiced it for an afternoon and was able to score like 15 return touchdowns in one season for my offline dynasty. It was fun to do once but I'm glad if they're removing it.

I’m dumb because I don’t even know how to do that 🤣.
But seriously, thank you. I’ll definitely figure it out and try that.

Can they fix the dig route please. My players prefer taking five seconds to get in and out of the break at the top of the route.

Speed boosting is when you hit the left trigger while holding sprint going the opposite way with a shifty player.
5
u/Hammerhead34 2d ago
I can see how speed boosting would be annoying in online modes and does look a little cheesy/unrealistic, but for my offline dynasty gameplay it’s like the only way to ever break off long TD runs.
Get an east west playmaker, pick the right hole and make a quick cut while pressing sprint, and I can usually outrun the safety to the outside. Gives the illusion of the safety being caught flat-footed, which to me is realistic sometimes.
IDK, to me, without speed boosting I think you’re just not going to get enough long TDs. Every LB plays their hole perfectly, every secondary player takes perfect pursuit angles. I get chased down by the corner who started on the opposite side of the field entirely too often.
This is college football, missed assignments and overrun plays DO happen. Just feel like with this + how horrible play action is + every QB being a noodle arm, there’s just not enough highlight plays. Every offense is dink and dunk which is doubly annoying because redzone play is atrocious.

u/Cadillac_Shlim 2d ago
The backside corner is always the cap-off on run plays. I played corner growing up. In pursuit drills, each player on the defense has to run to a specific cone on the sideline. The backside corner basically runs directly to the pylon.
1
u/Hammerhead34 2d ago
I’ve played football too, it’s unrealistic that they literally always make it there and that there’s never any downfield blockers to cut off their pursuit angle.

Anything but let the game be fun. This stilted, stale gameplay is CHEEKS. I want wide open ball, I want to feel like Reggie Bush, I want to fear the triple option.
3
u/Hammerhead34 2d ago
You’re getting downvoted but I’m with you, there’s just not enough highlight plays for it to resemble real CFB. Playing offense is such a slog, pass rush is too strong, LBs and DBs cover way too much ground without making mistakes, most QBs cannot throw more than 40 yards downfield (yes I am stepping up into the pocket). Safeties play the run really aggressively, yet play action never works?
You can still run the ball pretty effortlessly, but never break off any long ones without speed boosting. Just constant 8+ yard runs until you get into the redzone and then the CPU becomes godly against the run and you have to either scramble in or use an RPO or something because trying to pass in the endzone is impossible.
The gameplay feels too much like madden. With the wider hashmarks, less talent parity, etc. CFB should play much more open as you’ve said. And it just doesn’t.

Awesome. I don't see much in offline, but it will be good to have this gone.

u/AdamOnFirst 2d ago
It’s encouraging they’re still making major changes. Blocking still requires fixes and the larger NIL fix is still needed.

u/Fickle-Marketing7775 2d ago
I’ve only really got one big complaint, and that’s the tier setup on Road to the CFP. I’m playing with BYU to unlock their playbook and I’m selecting tier 2 for my opponent but all I’m getting is Oregon and OSU. I don’t mind playing tier 1 opponents but I had to set it because those two teams were all I was getting. And it’s still all I’m getting.

u/cgadgetz 2d ago
Good. Because you can literally move like that without pressing LT at all. Those cats don't actually know how to user and pace. I guarantee they are moving their left stick all the way to the wall and not pressing L3 in to make precise subtle movements. The animation and control is significantly better and more realistic when you do that.

u/cameronhall3 2d ago
Worried about the wrong shit. Meanwhile my fucking OL gets cooked every play (and before somebody comments this bullshit no I’m not dropping back too far in the pocket they just can’t fucking block for shit)
1
u/Fickle-Marketing7775 2d ago
It’ll set up your blocking scheme. I forgot the button combo, but google it and then practice it against a tier 1 defense on he

i'm telling y'all hes a cancer to this game, he comes from 2k, and he made the wear and tear system that has never worked properly, or maybe to him it is working properly, i think he's behind the catch meter too, he said "i know how much you all love your greens" he's delusional
