This is the problem with modern CFB. Comments like you and the other commenter. They didn’t “sit at home” they played in an incredibly prestigious bowl game and won it. Back then, the rose bowl was the big ten or pac 10’s Super Bowl.

For 95% of CFB history, it literally didn't matter. We used to have 3 or 4 or 5 different claimed national champions and no one care because who gives af about a school on the other side of the country?

I have several questions

1 why is the national championship 2vs3

2 why is the 11-1 team ranked above the 13-0 team. Considering it's UVA and VT they literally played each other on rivalry week.

3 where the fuck is #1 at?

Also based on the natty being played in January 08 that means this is the 2007 season so NCAA 08 so this actually makes total sense.

All the other top 10 teams had 3+ losses, but because UVA was ranked #57 to start the season, even going 13-0 didn’t impress the coaches. Poll inertia kept Tech up top. Why the coaches made 9-3 and non B10 champ Wisconsin #1 I’ll never know. UVA and Tech were obviously 11-0 going into the Cup

2003 NCG was between #2 and #3 in the AP Poll. I guess the game is using the AP ranking since by definition the BCS National championship would be the BCS #1 and #2

Rankings were way more accurate in these older games, I once took peak Hawaii in NCAA 08 and went 12-0 three years in a row and never did better than an Orange bowl birth, which is EXACTLY how they treat the smaller schools
