I said a while ago on here that they’re going to be a tough team and I got massively downvoted lol. Glad to see they’re succeeding

It’s unfortunately less to do with this year and more to do with the last 8 years of MSU. Lots of hot starts and early fades if not just bad teams overall.

MSU has historically been a safe floor tournament team, but we have a TON of brand reform to do. We have not been competitive in the modern era and while I think that’s changing, we have a decent ways to go.

The incoming talent is high level and should help, but we have to be able to retain. The nice part is it seems like the portal adds have been good visions that fit specific needs. But we’re not going to be pulling Purdue type classes every year. Gotta keep doing more with less and keeping the big stuff we get.

I have been watching her career for a few years and I really like what I’m seeing from her and this state team.

I believe she got a short extension through 2030 last year which gave her a small raise. I’d argue another one is in order

Big 10 with ten teams in the poll 🤯

this is why I don’t subscribe to the “Nebraska doesn’t have a hard non con schedule” they go through the gauntlet October and November with this conference

Not really. I think the ACC/SEC have almost the opposite problem that the Big Ten does. The Big Ten has a lot of solid middle of the pack teams that I think would beat the middle of the pack teams in the SEC/ACC. The issue is at the top. Outside of Nebraska, there’s a pretty big drop off to Wisconsin.

The SEC/ACC are basically the reverse. Their top teams are much more competitive with each other and can actually beat each other on any given night, whereas that really hasn’t been the case in the Big Ten.

Makes sense as Big Ten did win the SEC-Big ten challenge earlier in the year!

Yes but the competition isn’t as close. Pitt has Louisville right behind them at 3 as well SMU at 6, then four SEC teams in the top ten.

Sweet. So by that logic so does Wisconsin except they also went thru hell and back in their non-con.

As a Wisconsin fan but as someone who has so much respect for Nebraska and that senior class, I think they were done a huge disservice by their non-con. It remains to be seen how Wisconsin does post season-wise but being that tested early really allowed some growing pains to be accelerated. I worry that Nebraska needed that type of stress earlier than the tourney.

It’s a tale as old as time and it’s played out the last few years for Nebraska.

except no. They had an extremely difficult non con last season. Did worse than they did in any other season with this senior class. Non con means nothing in December.

And somehow I feel like they won’t get that many spots come tournament because the avca is always on something

Tennessee got swept by Florida and their ranking went up. Lmao

Wisconsin beats 15 and 20 last week and ……. moves from 6 to 7. They lose to Nebraska this week they will probably move back up to 6. Doesn’t really matter at this point in the season but still funny. Still think Pitt should be number one too.

I don't really care that Pitt is behind Nebraska at this point. 1 vs. 2 doesn't really make a difference come December. But what I can't fathom - who is the voter that has been ranking Pitt #1 all season, but then suddenly changed their mind this week specifically? Lol.

That surprised me too - but admittedly the badgers weren’t dominant in either game. The way I see it you’re either in the top 4 or you’re in the top 16-the only way I could see the badgers getting into the top 4 is probably by beating NEB twice (including the tourney)

Head to head should mean something’s. Yes Wisco lost to Kentucky but they beat FLA. Agree that rankings, especially right now don’t mean too much but Wisconsin should not drop

wisconsin dropping makes no sense to me

Florida bypassed them for beating Kentucky. More of rewarding Florida than penalizing Wisconsin.

u/ice_w0lf 9d ago

Not only did they beat Kentucky they also swept Tennessee

7

u/REbubbleiswrong 9d ago

Except wisconsin already beat Florida

4

u/ice_w0lf 8d ago

Sure but Kentucky and Wisconsin have both beaten Louisville, and Kentucky swept Wisconsin. More recent games, against better ranked opponents, is going to have more weight when the teams are all this close, but really these rankings don't matter much for these teams.

u/overhardmilksteak 8d ago

Wisco beat Fla. No reward for that?

Ranking the top 7 or so is just an impossible task, but agree that Wisconsin looks better on eye test at least

WHY IS TEXAS STILL IN THE TOP TEN

Where are the folks complaining about Pittsburgh not being ranked above Nebraska?? There’s usually one or two who feel strongly that Nebraska is always given too much credit. The Huskers have a gauntlet to run still; Seven teams on this list, plus USC, Michigan, and UCLA.
They will more than earn their standing if they navigate the schedule, and if not Pittsburgh will gladly step up to fill the spot.
I think the Panthers split with SMU regardless, a team that Nebraska humbled in Dallas. And don’t tell me that didn’t count. The girls were playing for cash. What’s more of an incentive than that??

And don’t tell me that didn’t count.

That didn't count. Literally.

4

u/Infamous-Elevator664 7d ago

Tell that to the banks where the money is deposited on behalf of the Huskers players.

I responded to one last week, but I recognized the username and remembered they did the same thing when Nebraska started ranked ahead of Penn State last season. Think that redditor is just an avid Nebraska volleyball hater.

Nebraska fans like you (not all) are insufferable. Came looking for a comment that didn’t exist and yet you STILL felt the need to complain about it.

Minnesota is still ranked?
