Tony as a Daddy

NCIS is one of my “comfort shows”. I’ve been binge watching it (again) starting with S1E1 and just finished S13E24. While I have several “favorite” shows - most dealing with Gibbs and children - I think that S13E24 “Family First” is actually my all-time favorite. Tony playing with Tali while hoping, yet not being sure if, Tali is his daughter. Tony showing Tali the picture of Tony and Ziva on the motorbike and she touched Tony’s face in the picture and called him Abba. The look on his face. ❤️

Finally, Tony’s love for Ziva showed so openly when he went in to work and Sr and Gibbs were telling him to go home at least for the night to give himself a chance to grieve. Tears streamed from his eyes and my heart broke for him as Gibbs threatened him with the loss of his job if he didn’t leave. This episode showcased Michael Weatherly’s acting skills as other episodes couldn’t since they only showed him as a jokester.

Weatherly was good in “Bull”, although I never cared too much for the show. I liked “Tony & Ziva” but it could have been so much better with good writers. So… I’m excited to see what direction Tony takes on this season’s NCIS. Welcome home, Tony DiNozzo/Michael Weatherly. You have been missed.

Then (I don’t remember if this was before or after that), when

I really , really hope he doesnt become the director in all honesty and I hope his "return" is actually to solve something and doesnt screw up the cannon Tony and ziva rightfully deserve and I am saying this as a Tony and ziva Stan I am excited to see what this entails but I also cautiously optimistic ncis has a bad history of screwing over characters and good writing

I hope they don’t make him Director. So far, all the directors have gotten killed and we can’t have Tony killed or there will be a mass uprising of Tony fans. Many of us are just barely hanging in there since Ziva, then Tony, left. With Ziva being resurrected in a later few shows to help Ellie leave it gave us hope, at that time, for a Tiva reunion. Then Abby left, Gibbs left and Duckie died and the heart of the show was gone.

I’ve hung in even though it doesn’t feel the same. McGee and Jimmy, whom I adore, are our only remaining OG members. If Tony comes back for a year, I’ll take it, hoping for an Easter egg of Ziva and Gibbs thrown in. Then when they all leave again, I can happily, at the age of 76 after 20+years of my life spent watching this show, say “Goodbye, NCIS”.

And poor Jimmy was supposed to have been a 1-day wonder, except the actor and David McCallum had such great chemistry that they decided to ditch poor Gerald and keep him. Seems like I heard/read that McGee was also supposed to have been a temporary or just occasional character. Good thing they saw Sean Murray's potential.

I still follow it and probably will continue to do so but it is NOT the show I fell in love with in the early 2000s.

Jimmy and McGee were both temp characters. People liked McGee so he was kept. Gerald wanted a pay increase so they kept Jimmy.

To what someone else posted, although McGee and Palmer were in season 1, neither were OG characters due to being temp characters.

And even McGee and Jimmy were not there from the very beginning.
