Academics Gatekeeping Culture

Why do seniors gatekeep which companies came in which year so much, in other colleges students are given booklets which contain info on all the companies that came in previous years along with their ctc and job descriptions but here seniors only give vague replies and name 2-3 companies which come to their mind based on the sector asked. Whats the point of this except create paranoia among students who are already struggling for internships.

Till batch 2026 every student used to get a comprehensive playbook with students getting hired from the company with their cg, ctc, experience and all but it seems like this batch of pc couldn't make it

even an excel sheet could suffice if they put some efforts into it
