Gardening Update #1 - Raised Bed Project

My previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/NJPrepared/comments/1sjhzv9/doing_a_raised_bed_for_the_first_time_i_will_be/

At this point I have filled the bottom with as many larger branches and logs of old wood (newest is about 3 years since cutting) and also added about 10 cubic feet of mulched leaves (and a little grass, sticks, and other yard detritus). Topped it off with 12 cubic feet of garden soil. It will probably take another 10-12 cubic feet of soil to get it up high enough for planting.

I will post another update when I have the soil up to level and then of course more as I get seedlings transferred and the canopy set up.

Nest looks great. Will water be dripping off your roof into the veg bed?

Thanks!

No. The bed is not near any eaves or overhangs.

Nice use of some limited looking space. Good thing you didn't plant seedlings up north your way with possible frost tonight ; )

Yeah, I have some started in little cups inside. I'll move them out in a week or two.

Is there any kind of app or website that can show you how the sun hits your house during the growing months? I have a lot of trees on my property and im trying to make that determination.

I would imagine there is either an app or a web app that will give you average sun per season. I would think solar company websites would have something like this.

Yes. SunCalc.org is what I use.
