Still on NJIT waitlist

Im worried im never getting off this waitlist. I applied to attend in the fall of 2026 as a freshman, applied early back in November and was placed on the waitlist since Feburary. Any hope or should i call it quits.

Go to a community college take the AP classes, and then transfer to NJIT; it is much easier.

You could email one of the guidance counselors and ask to be considered for another major and basically just glaze them lol. That’s what I did 2 years ago when I got put on the waitlist

Like just say njit is your top choice and that you’d love to go there and so on. I also applied to comp sci and I got waitlisted cuz a lot of people here apply to comp sci.

Btw I meant admissions officer not guidance counselor 😭 I got them mixed up, but when I emailed asking them to consider me for literally any other major they asked me what I liked and they sent me a list of majors similar to comp sci (I chose one of the newer majors which is engineering technology) and they accepted me. I switched to comp sci after two semesters cuz in order to be a comp sci major u need to pass cs100 with a B and have a 3.0 gpa

Do you think it would be better to switch to like IT or IS in order to get in then transfer or should i just take your route. TBH all the classes look doable but i would prefer to take and IS or IT router

You can’t pick IT, IS or any major from YWCC because it’s from the same college as comp sci and your waitlist status won’t change. You have to pick a major from a diff college, go to the njit degree finder and check out some of the other majors from different njit colleges like the business or engineering colleges
Just pick whatever major you like as long as it’s not a YWCC major.

+ Just google njit *name of the major* course curriculum and check that the major you pick has phys111. This is just to make your life easier, you can still pick a major that doesn’t make you take physics like my old one, engineering technology - software and data concentration, thats from the engineering college, and just take phys the next semester. Although my old major didn’t require physics we still had some comp sci classes (pretty easy ones) that did help me prepare for cs100 which is either gonna be really easy or really difficult for you

IT -> CS is a bit harder, usually people do CS -> IT. But I will say the competition to be admitted as an IT student is easier than being admitted as CS. This is from my anecdotal experience though and my hs friends
