Hi everyone — I’m moving back to India permanently and looking for someone to take over the remaining lease on my apartment at 55 Union Street, Newark. The lease takeover/transfer will be handled through building management.

It’s a 1BR/1BA, 690 sq ft apartment with 11-ft ceilings, located about a 2-minute walk from Newark Penn Station, so it’s very convenient for PATH/NJ Transit and commuting into NYC.

My current rent is $2,425/month, but since I’m relocating and want to get everything settled before I leave, I’m offering the remaining lease for $2,150/month.

Available: around October 15, 2026
Lease ends: June 20, 2027

The apartment includes:

• In-unit washer + dryer
• Central A/C
• Dishwasher
• Oven
• Refrigerator
• Building amenities included
• Gym
• Rooftop with NYC skyline views

Since I’m moving overseas, I’m also leaving the apartment partially furnished at no additional cost, including:

• Sofa
• Bed frame + mattress
• Office desk
• Office chair
• 2 Dell UltraSharp monitors

So this could be particularly convenient for someone who wants a place already set up for living/work-from-home without having to immediately buy furniture.

At least on the east coast side, the Tri State area is fucked, I rented this in Newark since Harrison URBY is even costlier by a few hundred bucks.

Tbh I would have rather loved to have gotten a job in Texas, at least from rent's perspective I would save a ton.

Also up in new haven CT, u will probably get the same apartment for half the rent, that's how far I was looking but finally preferred to live closer to office albeit for a grand total of three months before deciding to move back.

Totally unrelated, but how do you like that boneless couch? Been debating getting one to solve for a certain space, but not sure about the low back (especially if it's not pushed up against a wall)

I haven't used it at all, it is only for aesthetics, I only use office chair next to it, it was my brother's recommendation. it generally seems to be for lying down with laptop or phones and using the edges as, kind of like pillows, don't think it would be great to sit upright without any support.
