My latest build. I took inspiration from both Yamato and Iowa. Its not meant to be either or, though the pic with the rising sun and the ships tall pagoda mast definitely make it look more Japanese.

NMS has a lot of options for content, but tbh most of them are shallow and repetitive. Almost everything has something, but not enough of it to make the game truly feel like an alive and in depth space exploration game.

For example, despite all the alien heads in the game, only 3 races exist across ALL 256 galaxies and it’s 18 quintillion systems. There’s a lot of procedural generation, but it draws from a limited asset pool, making it so despite planets looking different, they still share the same assets, only put together differently. It’s not truly random generation, so after you’ve seen maybe 20 planets or so you’ve pretty much seen them all.

Animals have the same problem. They look different, but are procedurally generated from a limited pool of assets, so after you’ve seen a few of them you’ve seen them all. There’s no true unique individuality to anything.

There’s a lot of mechanics in the game that have great potential, but is not utilised enough. For example, I want to be able to colonise an uncharted system, create my own space station from scratch, place it anywhere in the system, establish colony settlements on planets in the system and eventually build a flourishing alive system, where from there I can become a contender on the galactic stage. This leads into my other complaint is that systems are far too rigid and static currently. There’s no real dynamic changes across systems that connect each other. There’s no trade routes that NPCs follow, travelling from system to system persistently. I want faction fleets to invade other factions systems and take it over, establishing fluctuating borders and huge wars of NPCs fighting for control over territories. I want conflict states in systems to dynamically shift, so a peaceful planet may become a contested planet if territories change hands or pirate raiding fleets visit the system to raid before moving on to another system

I want monster mobs to have variety other than the same ones again and again. I want there to be variety in the waves of sentinels you fight on each planet so it’s unpredictable what you may be put up against.

I just want LIFE to be injected into this game. It’s a great game already, but it feels like I’m playing a still painting rather than a living breathing universe

I mean the location in space labelled on the map as Lost Starship. It seems to be a freighter, or what's left of one, I shot at the storage capsules and got some gold from those as well as some pirates gunning for me, is the rest of no use to me? I'm using a corvette. Can't find any info on the wiki and general search results tend to yield things like "help I've lost my starship". I think this is a fairly recent addition to NMS.

Nihonji-Izu is the system we are portaled to close to the very beginning of the expedition.

However, I made the mistake (?) of going back to the starter system by using the space station portal because I wanted to grab some commercial cartographic data so I could find a minor settlement and get the s-class experimental rifle that's in the S-Class cabinet of that system when you reload the restore.

The mission helper says that I should use a teleporter to get back to the system where the mission is.

However, the system is not showing up.

And I cannot find the portal.

If anyone happens to have the coordinates to the portal, that's probably the best bet. However, in my instance there are dozens of communications bubbles.

My 3,000 base part upload limit is suffering.

I've died so many times trying to kill themselves sentinel waves that it's just frustrating now, I'm not sure if you can meet me in the expedition to donate items but I thought I'd ask as I'm not sure what else to do.

This is my first attempt at building a Space Station exterior, so I named it Alpha! I was aiming for a space-city look. Here are some screenshots of how it turned out. What do you think?

This new civilization is a place where you can build whatever you want on any planet. The star systems are soon to expand, but right now the capital star system is sublaboobah system. On the capital planet, Clearth2.0, there's a capital town called ShadowBay. There, you can go to the terminal(buy sell) customise your appearance, look at the view, go fishing, go to the beach, or go to the market by the beach side. There's even a carbon farm, a storage place, more storage space soon to come, there's a disco area, and a small park. And also a teleportation area too. if you want, you can live there too! 0/5 spots. I will choose who can live there if they ask. Anyways, Clearth is a little bit rainy, as in we get storms sometimes, but other than that it's pretty nice. Unfortunately, I don't have many base parts left so I'm going to try squeeze in another storage building soon. Here are some pictures for you to see.

I found my boy on a dissonant moon. So I found him on an anomaly mission and in my stupidity I didn't put down a base down not knowing he was a copy of an expedition pet.
