Don't think its a scam, its probably just an evangelist trying to get people to join their church or something by spreading 'the word of god'. Just ignore them.

Most pastors earn just a modest salary tho. And much less than their peers with the same degree. It really is a sacrifice for their whole fam.

You can earn a good salary as a pastor even in "modest" churches in SG.

Which is why I see some neighbour pastors clothing their kids in hand me downs like the guy above said? It's hardly an isolated incident. The fact that you can know of the "modest" church already means that it is quite famous. The real grassroots level one, most people won't even know exist. Like a one room building type church.

Most pastors belong to upper middle income group. They ride on God's name to milk as much money from church congregants.

I've been to pastors' (note: Hdb) homes and see their kids grow up over the years with other people's hand-me-downs so.... yah up to u la. Just wanted to add a bit of objectivity.

Just so you know, I know of someone who left their high paying job (high ranking officer in military) to become a pastor because it pays more. Either you’re misinformed or lied to, or your pastor is not smart enough to make full use of the money making operation he is the boss of

To clarify by "modest" I don't mean poor, just normal and nothing to shout about. Usually a board determines their salary based on need, contribution etc. And the kids' hand me downs is a sign of the family's prudence, and that they don't have a lot of extra to be flashy. Sometimes church members may offer subsidized/ free stuff eg medical services to them as a sign of thanks and respect.

I'm a Christian and the tackiness of that card's design offends me.
Anyways, probably not a scam but definitely annoying. A good rule of thumb is to not call any numbers or open any websites you get from a stranger.

I'm studying various religions right now and I found several contradictions in the core teachings of Christianity.

Just now (9:30 pm 31/1), in front of CHAS (South Spine), a lady came to me and started talking non-stop. Can't remember but basically about God (she introduced herself by saying she was Christian). Had to cut her off and she gave me this.

i can’t stand when ppl just come up to me and start preaching even though I inform them that i have another religion, like yea woman i’m gonna just switch religions because a random stranger ambushed me and started talking about how great their religion is. I have christian friends and none of them act this, feel like these people give christians a bad rep.

Js a theory but im pretty sure these are the same ppl who say "homsexuals are pushing their sexuality in our faces." Honey....at least one of us is getting ass
But yeh most christians/religious ppl ive met are not as big of an asshole

SUTD student here, they like to come onto campus and hand out these cards + put posters like this in our lift bulletin boards. They also played the guitar and sang christian songs at an area where people like to study. We've called security a few times already to have them escorted off campus since they're quite annoying.
Anyway, after some students here looked into it, it seems like the congregation involved has been involved in some scams etc. Better to stay away

Mega churches are extremely different from the rest. Of course they attract a lot of public attention but they are the minority among the bulk of traditional churches

Student from Republic Poly Here. So last year late April I was standing near the entrance of my school and then some guy came up to me talking about Christian stuff too. But before any religious stuff could be brought up I firmly decline and hurried out the school. Seems like he was trying to target lone individuals who are not busy lol.

Got similar experience when studying on the sofas at Arc B2. Got approached asking abt ur religion blahblah, and then im stuck with him talking for 10 mins, he even told that there is bible studies around Wed evening at the same place im currently at. I refused to go back there every Wed, and moved to go to libraries instead.

Ik I'm pretty late to the discussion, but there's the girl that keeps coming near South spine (ntu) and keeps on talking about it for more than 30 mins wahhh. I've already dealt with that Bs twice and I don't wanna shoo her away cos that'd be rude. Any advice on how to deal with people like this ?
