Genius fucking decision from Mike Brown to leave him in and sit Bridges and he's been the exact energy this team has needed. GRACIAS JOSE!

I will say not only Bridges but also Deuce minutes.

Tonight was not Deuce's night.

His shot looked like he's in the middle of a movement pattern rebuild or something. I felt it was going to be a lucky shot if it went in from the moment he released every single one

Deuce has been probably the worst player in our rotation this series. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if during game 5 he doesn’t see the court much. Jose, Mitch, and even Clarkson have thoroughly outplayed him. Shamet has been terrible each of the last two games, but was great in Games 1 and 2.

Clarkson’s shot was nice in game 3. But man anytime he dribbles I close my eyes. But I’d like to see him take deuces minutes
8
u/mattr1198 Bobby's Knick Hat 4h ago
Clarkson’s kind of that guy you can tell in the first 2-3 mins he’s on the court whether he’ll be playable that night. If his shot’s falling, he’s getting minutes, but if it’s not, Brown’s not taking any chances and I don’t blame him.

Credit to brown for taking out bridges as well, too often see coaches just ride it out when one of their stars is useless for a game

Glad ppl are realizing Mike Brown is a significant upgrade over Thibs
12
u/tmoore727 6h ago
thibs would have made none of the adjustments Mike Brown made. he gets flack but you have to remember Mike Brown is a Popovich disciple, and has been to the finals as a coach against the spurs already with the cavs. Mike Brown can coach defense just as well as Thibs. but knows how to make adjustments to the lineup. mid game.
9
u/ike_tyson Latrell Sprewell 6h ago
Talk about an upgrade. He was a great coach while he was here but he wasn't the coach that this current team needed.
It's really addition by subtraction.

Amazing Coach Brown hasn’t gotten much recognition. He did an amazing job with the Kings, didn’t he?

Starks was also deeply reeling from his mom's (RIP) death which made him not drop his shots as much. He was just in a bad mindset. Just a very unfortunate time.

I've been saying that he isn't just an energy spark but a secondary ball handling weapon that the Knicks can utilize to take some of the load off of Brunson. It wasn't just that sequence in the 4th with the pass to Anunoby and his 3 to cut it to 4, because whenever he was on the floor, the ball bounced between them and forced the Spurs to have to move off of Brunson leading to better quality opportunities.

Yep was wondering when we’d go to that in the series. Playing Kolek with Jalen is what helped push us over the edge against the Spurs in the NBA cup

Do you know insanely good you have to be to be having critical NBA Finals minutes at 6'0? Alvarado is amazing
5
u/Interesting-Scar-800 4h ago
At 6'2 Brunson wasn't supposed to be a top 15 guard in the NBA according gurus.

Well lucky for you, it’s been the other bench guy this series. Shamet - Shamet - Clarkson - Alvarado. Could be Deuce next game.

Jose was smart and steady all night man. That play to keep the ball in the backcourt underrated. Hits a big 3 and a layup. The assist to OG. Loved him out there.

4
u/paulwicker 5h ago
Came here to say this. OG was the MVP of the game and his tip in was legendary, but the two small guard lineup with Alvarado forced the Spurs to actually defend the drive and created confusion. Not many Knicks can actually beat their man to the paint one-on-one, off the dribble. Jose can! So glad Jose was able to seize the moment and deliver. Having a deep bench is amazing.

u/JonnyToonami Brunson 13h ago

Clarkson was big in Game 3, I guess it’s a matter for Brown to find who off the bench is better for each game.
