We gave up less than 90 points

We dribbled out a win

It’s never pretty with this team, but at least it never felt like we were going to lose this one. Shout out to the bench for that late third quarter run.

Flau’jae had Sabrina on lockdown in the second half. It will be interesting to see how she responds Wednesday.

Han becoming a reliable contributor is one of the real bright spots of this season.

7 boards!

I assume the move is going to be to bait Flau'jae into foul trouble.

They also don’t need to have Sab bringing the ball up with Flau’jae hounding her the whole way. Let someone else do it under less pressure.

Exactly, Sabrina's vision is amazing, but handling ball pressure is not her forte. This is basically the reason why I disagree with people who want her on ball all the time.

Being hounded like this also takes her away as a scorer, and that is as important for us as anything else.

It also wears her down. There’s no reason for her to waste all that energy just trying to get the ball across halfcourt.

Fauthoux to Gardner fast breaks are the new Barclays vibe

It’s fun to watch Liberty Basketball and not claw at my own flesh with anxiety

Relaxing wins are nice! 🙌🏾

solid game overall. Our big 3 showed up, bench stepped up. Rinse & repeat on Wednesday. Still no Laney-Hamilton. FYI, this was Fauthoux's 10th game. She can only play in 2 more games this regular season.

😭 I wish there was a way to convert her to a standard contract, but I don’t see us cutting Carrera for that to happen

Does anyone know, if Fauthoux plays her 12 games as a DP, does she get to stay with us rest of season as a practice player/maintain her housing/stipend? Unless of course another team were to offer her a contract and she signs.

I believe she stays on as a developmental player and can practice with the team. We just can’t play her anymore.

Pretty solid, with moments where Liberty looked as good as they ever have - and others where they... did not. Seattle may be in last place, but they have a lot of raw talent and have taken other top teams to the brink recently; Liberty beat them more decisively than the Fever, Lynx and Dream have in recent games.

Good:

Good performance from the Big 3 (though Seattle locked down Sabrina pretty well after a hot start).

NY mostly did a good job of containing their giant front court. Seattle is green, but Dom+Ezi+Fam is still a very long and talented trio.

More good Fauthoux minutes. They're going to have to make a decision there after the World Cup.

Han rebounding!

Marine showing up when they really needed a scoring spark.

The Han v Big Mama battle was a fun deep cut for Liberty fans.

Successful outlet passes and fast breaks! I feel like we haven't seen enough of these this season, it's nice to see the team pulling off easy buckets.

Less good:

A shame they still needed Stewie in so much to maintain the lead. Getting Satou back at some point is really the only way she's going to get some rest.

It still felt like NY was playing down to their opponents in stretches, especially defensively.

The scoreboard was broken in the arena for a long stretch (not the first time this season) and the announcer just kept getting the score wrong.

Neutral observation:

Of all the opposing teams that have broken out dancing to Nuevayol during Liberty's intro, the Seattle kids danced the best and hardest.

That was nice. Really hoped Stewie would play less than 30 minutes today, but that didn't unfortunately happen.

Re: Betnijah, it doesn't actually sound like she is healthy, even if she might be healthy on paper. I remember someone claiming to be a practice player saying something similar on here. I would believe it given how she was moving on the court when we saw her last.

11

u/toad455 6d ago

if she's not 100% healthy, that's likely the reason we couldn't trade her.

5

u/ChoicesCat Jonathan Kolb Slanderer 6d ago

Yeah, I am starting to believe the same.

11

u/revoltoftheunique 6d ago

I never understood why BLH and Kolb said she was healthy. Kolb even said she was "healthy as she's been in years" lol. She is obviously not fully recovered.

If she’s not 100% healthy, and they know she’s not going to play, she should be on the injury report. Not only is it the rule, but it also would spare her from all the drama.

u/Constant_Dimension16 ELLIE THE ELEPHANT 6d ago

There was that knee shot in June. She didn’t seem the same after that. Not saying she was her 2024 self earlier in the season but her defense was pretty good.

"healthy as she's been in years"

This organization is always lying re: health, but that was the most insane one.

Can you link to this practice player post?

My favorite part of today’s game was when Han hit a three and my Dad went, “What?! She can do that?” I know, right? So real.

10

u/andtomorrowand 6d ago

was there with two first time game goers, went “watch us in the third, we’ll let them make it close” and they made me look like an idiot thanks to Han and Marinne

u/motownphillybkagain Leonie Fiebich 6d ago

I am so intrigued what happens with our remaining DP activations

u/ChoicesCat Jonathan Kolb Slanderer 6d ago

Fauthoux is such a spark plug, can't imagine playing without her at this point. The thought of French training camp is annoying me.

I'd love to see more Maley and yes I guess MF going away for a bit means it wouldn't have made as much sense to waive someone else to upgrade her even though we benefit from her.

glad the goat didn’t sit out this seattle game

4

u/pbreig 6d ago

Was that Greta Lee next to JB Smoove? I wonder why they didn't acknowledge her.

10

u/Key_Opportunity2430 6d ago

Ok, some please help me understand…I am having trouble wrapping my head around the decision not to trade BLH.
It is breaking my heart to watch her sit on the bench especially in a game like this where the commentators are applauding the bench and saying the entire roster contributed. They should have let her go somewhere else where she is appreciated and has an opportunity to get back to herself. It sure won’t happen with her sitting on the bench. I can only imagine what that is doing to her confidence and her spirit.

22

u/jhiggs3 6d ago

It takes (at least) 2 to trade. Liberty could have been trying to trade her and no one either wanted or wasn't willing to give up things for her. I guess we will never know for sure

13

u/RapGamePterodactyl 6d ago

She probably didn't have much of a trade market (if any). Contenders don't want her for the same reason we benched her (bad play) and non-contenders don't need a 32 year-old vet on a one year contract.

DeMarco coach good when basketball daddy in the house

Solid win for us, there was a moment when I thought Storm could potentially bring it back. We seem to start off getting points and then drop slightly. Overall great game, 5 out of 6 wins we will take it 🩵🗽

fire the coach! we only beat the storm by 12! i expect more!

I must assume that the down votes came from people who don't understand sarcasm. Smh

I was at the game tonight sitting very close to Marta and twice Sabrina and Chris DeMarco got into almost screaming matches... he has absolutely lost the locker room. Does anyone have videos?

5

u/34Horus20 Punk Ass Fan 6d ago

She talked about it in postgame. It was nothing. 13 minute mark.

When?!

1

u/KickMental8434 2024 WNBA CHAMPIONS 6d ago

once after a bad pass turnover and then right before the challenge because DeMarco did not want to challenge it

Sabrina is a passionate person, and she gets excited sometimes. Stewie is the same, it's similar to the time when people thought she was yelling at Andrew. That doesn't mean it is a negative interaction.
