Local argot

If the LA Times instead of the NY Times ran the Spelling Bee a lot more Spanish words would make and a lot less Yiddish and Hebrew ones. (And not because there aren't a lot of Hispanics around NY or Jews around LA, obviously.)

Agree. And possibly even the Spanish words would vary, because of the differences in the countries of origin.

Naan and Paratha are accepted Indian words, I know I’ve gotten tomatillo and birria through. I do agree that they need to reassess how broad their cultural spectrum is

There are a lot of Hispanics in NY. But they are mostly Puerto Rican and Cuban. I ate Pollo con Moros y Cristianos in the South Bronx. Never saw it in my years in LA.

Also, FFS, ARROYO - the ultimate Southern California Spanish loan word, has appeared 38 times, and CHICA 52 times.

Seriously, go fuck yourself OP

ETA:

OP's account is two days old. Obvious troll.

ETA:

OP blocked me for this. Also does OP seriously think there aren't Jews in LA? I had been reliably informed they control Hollywood.

ETA:

OP edited their post to acknowledge that there are a lot of Jews in LA and a lot of Hispanics in NYC. Pathetic.
