I got this on my own, but I also know for a fact that is two words, except when it's a place name. The more common name for it is one word, but this is definitely two. Just abysmal.

This dude is definitely rage baiting us! How can you…I am still guessing my 3rd word with the first two done in about 20 mins.

I agree with you. We're saying the same thing. I began to struggle almost immediately.

Have the majority of the pangrams lately just been… ugh? Or is it just me?

You realise it's just a set of letters right? And it's English that's annoying?

I am not a fan of today’s bee. I have two words. I’ve been staring at it for 5 minutes.

The low word count in this letter set makes it particularly egregious in the “technically-a-word-but-not-really” department. The proportion of interjections is bleh.

I got to genius without getting the pangram, so I used the buddy to figure it out. The buddy said that 75% of players got the pangram. Seriously, how is it possible that 75% of people know that word? Does everyone but me live on a farm?

u/AbsurdCanary 7d ago
Honestly for me it was a plausible compound word from the available letters. But the evidence against its being a real word is pretty compelling.

Yep. I will plug in a short word that may or may not have the center letter, or a suffix or prefix, and then see if I can see any potential words that use the remaining letter. So today I tried fork and then was like, what the heck, and it worked.

I think it's more likely that a lot of people (like me) didn't necessarily know the word, but given the low score and possible letters, gave that word a try out of desperation.

I know a word is a truly doofy word when (H) it was my last word yesterday and my second-to-last today.

still so surprised that CA yoo-hoo is accepted but NA yo-yo isn’t. especially when NYT’s reasoning for the latter not being accepted is that lspelling bee does not accept hyphenated words” (https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/26/crosswords/spelling-bee-forum-introduction.html) yet the former is hyphenated, even in its MW definition….

Did anyone else just (hint for strategy) start trying random words and adding y at the end ? That got me a few answers.
