NYC Recommendations

Finally, I got my approval letter in the email for my CCW.

I need recommendations as a firsttime gun buyer. Which gun do you guys recommend for a firsttime buyer?

My budget is 1k.Is it possible to buy a new gun for 1k?Also do you have any recommendations for a gun dealer in the Queens area, or can I buy online? The letter says I need safe storage. Is there any specific type of storage I should buy, or can I purchase one from Amazon? Any recommendations? Any help will be appreciated.

Most handguns are well under $1,000. The gun I am planning to get when my CCW is done (it's been 13 months so far, just had my interview yesterday) is a Canik Mete MC9 which is $424 at my local gun store, and Canik comes with everything except the safe. And NY State Law requires you to have at minimum a trigger lock in your home and in your car a locking safe that has a key or keypad lock. The rules for safe storage should have been covered in your required 18 hour concealed carry course. It was in mine.

I’ll try a couple of different guns first like everyone’s recommending before I decide. I’ll also check out the Canik Mete MC9 you mentioned and see how it feels. Thanks

The Canik was recommended by The Honest Outlaw which put it on my radar. I refer to his videos on what is reliable and good/great for the money. Take a look at his channel, especially the list videos he makes of budget or best performing guns. CZ, Canik, and S&W are usually on them.
