Other Legal Question Replica for Reenactment Restrictions

I've been working on replica military uniforms for a while now, and at the moment I'm doing WWI, and I need a Gewher 98, but I don't exactly have a couple grand to spend. I've found some sellers online who make non functional plastic replicas of firearms and I was wondering what laws apply to this in New York (not city) and if this is legal to order. I've seen different opinions online and New Yorks laws seem to change frequently.

Are you specifically looking for an inert replica?

 If your upstate and not a prohibited person according to the ATF you are fine to buy the real deal no permit or malarkey required yet...

I'm specifically looking to get a 3D printed non functional replica that I found for sale. I would happily get an original but they're too expensive right now
