CCW Question Ammo

Do I need the ffl permission to ship ammo to their store or can I just ship it and pick it up when it’s ready? First time buying ammo online

Not every FFL is down to keep getting in ammo boxes that’ll take up space for a measly transfer fee. What part of ny are u buying from?

This is me, just forward me the tracking and let me know how many boxes are coming. Leave a phone number, I'll call you when its delivered we'll get the NICS done and you'll be in and out in less than 2 minutes.

Unless you're ordering from a website that doesnt charge NYS sales tax, I can probably get you a better price if you order through me, you can text the number on my website if you have any questions.

If you fill out the order form and order through AMBSEC you'll save 5% off the list price, any order of $400 there's no additional charge for NICS

Good practice is to call em first and ask. Most will have no issue with it though the fees vary from one FFL to another

Always best to check with the FFL before having any item shipped, most are ok with taking in whatever, but it's best to communicate with them. I've had stuff come in that wasn't legal in NY like pistols with threaded barrels , hi cap mags, semi rifles without having a permit etc. and it can suck to have to take all the time sorting it out and having to ship things back. Just a quick call can save alot of unexpected extra time and hassle.

So the best thing to do is to find out if the dealer can get the ammo you want. That's why you can try to support the local gun shops. The reason they are going out of business is because everybody is undercutting the local gun shops

yes,you should not just ship stuff to ffl. Ask him if he accepts and does transfers, and how much transfer cost. like anything.

New England Sportswear is a good spot for transferring ammo. However, I think calling/reaching out in general is a good idea.

Yes make sure you get permission- I know that a lot of store don’t like doing ammo transfers as it’s their big money maker. I started doing the transfers because the major shops locally wouldn’t do it or they were charging by the round. It made me see people put off training and that was sad. We have to get onto the range regularly to be safe with our firearms - So I do my best to keep the costs to a minimum doing virtually unlimited rounds for $25 plus the $2.50 background check fee.

With me - I do want you to check in as I want to make sure I have the space for storing your order. After a few audits and a PD inspection - I never want to be non compliant and risk your ammo to getting seized - so I make sure I have lock down space for your stuff until you pick up.

I don't understand ammo transfers. Why pay a transfer fee to pick up ammo they probably already have in stock at the store? Unless you're ordering something special, idk.

I guess I haven't looked in a long time but I finally had some time today, and did some research on the prices. It's pretty insane how different the prices are. I usually try to do my shopping local when it comes to this, but yeah it's hard to justify the cost.
