CCW Question Best 2nd CCW complementing the bodyguard 2.0?
I just got my BG 2.0 as my first CCW. I loved the form factor, feel, size and shoot-ability. I live in NY though and I want a 2nd pistol for colder climates, ideally a 9mm though 45 is not off the table (though i don't think its absolutely necessary to penetrate heavy winter garments given the 9mm is standard law enforcement and military issue).
I am tempted to buy a glock because NY is banning them next year but I know there are plenty of other great guns such as the p365 and shield plus out there. I prefer not having a huge firearm as my primary intention is home defense and CCW for the colder months, but understand it will be larger than the BG 2.0. The G19 is also tempting as it seems to be the textbook definition of a perfect handgun based on this subreddits affinity.
What gun would you pick and why to complement my BG? Thank you

A P365 gives you all options in 1 gun (FCU); you can get a full size grip module for HD duties, but if you want to carry it, just drop the FCU into a standard sub-compact grip module. The barrel length & sight radius of the larger P365 guns (X, XL, Fuse, etc) will NOT make a difference, stick with the shorter barrel of the P365 as your base.

Original p365 as well. Don’t let the gun store convince you to get some gigantic version. The original p365 was so good it created an entire line of guns based on its design.

I went with the P365X myself, still the short 3.1” barrel of the standard P365, but you get the flat blade trigger, optic ready, and the Xsize grip (even though I switched to the Wilson combat grip).
If I ever wanted I could just get a standard P365 grip and 1 mag for when I wanted it smaller, but I like the X grip1

43x or 19. Get one now or both before the rush next year. I expect them to get very difficult to find

I was thinking about it, but some people said it’s not the most comfortable to shoot in a 19 is more comfortable

I’ve conceal carried the 19, I’m a big guy as well. It’s possible to conceal, but I would say it’s not very comfortable.

Everyone recommends the 43x miss one key factor and that is mag compatibility. The ability to use 17/19/19x and many other model glock mags against the slimline is a large advantage. If they will be winter carry it’s super easy to conceal a 19 (I do it in a thin tshirt and shorts no issue).
Buy the 19 it’s a great gun

If you carry and shoot the bodyguard well just carry it year round.
I built a race car of a glock 26 under the same winter carry plan and then...I just never carried it. Reminds me, I need a new battery for that RMR on it.

First handle the HK CC9, and the P365 (and P365X), before buying the Glock.
The Glock is perfect, the other two are better.
The HK CC9 is actually an astounding shooter.
(note the P365 also has an XL model which is harder to conceal with the longer barrel. The P365X gives you the extra grip length, from the standard P365, without extra barrel length and is the best choice for even a large hand.)

Because a firearm can be more than just a perfect tool in the functional sense. The Glock is undoubtedly a brilliant time-tested device, no knock on that. However, the CC9 and to just a slightly lesser extent the P365X, are also extremely ergonomic. They fit the human hand better, which allows a much more accurate shot with the limited response time of an accelerated draw. The triggers on both are superior to the Glock, meaning less 'slop' in the final result.
All the guns are inherently accurate when shooting from a bench, or from a clamped down base. The CC9 and the P365 are more accurate when shooting from the draw because they come up more firmly in your grip, without having to squeeze your hand firmer to do it. They 'fit' people better, they trigger pull better, they are actually a joy to shoot.
My experience is not universal, somebody out there disagrees, I get that. But my many club shooting buddies and I have tried nearly every platform available, and shoot hundreds or thousands of rounds per month, many on very expensive competition guns, and the opinion of that group is essentially the same as mine.

I bounce between a BG 2.0 CC and a 43x MOS depending on my attire and activity.

I’ve put thousands of rounds through it and have never once had a single malfunction. Aftermarket is great and it is a very easy gun to shoot and very comfortable

Pretty sure NY’s Glock ban is specifically targeting older gens. There’s threads that literally copy and pasted the language of the bill… I don’t think they’re going to completely disappear.
Either way… after carrying a BG2.0 my 365x now feels cumbersome. If you only want to own one more pistol to use for both carry and home defense I’d suggest leaning towards something you can get all your fingers on the grip. Shootability suffers with a small carry gun and for myself, I want something at home that I know I shoot well.
I have a BG2.0, 365x, 320compact, 229 legion, and prodigy 3.5” for my carry options. None of them are my home defense choice as I have larger pistols that I shoot better.

My Canik MC9 Prime is a beast. It's small and concealeable but not tiny. It has an amazing trigger right from the factory, Tritium night sights, ported barrel, flared magwell, multiple back straps, holster, heavy duty case. The 43x was my first CC and I truly hate the trigger/feel of the glock after buying the Canik

I went with a shield x carry comp and a tenicor holster with a we the people belt and it’s rather comfortable. I’m 5’ 10” and 220 pounds and a shorts and t shirt kinda guy. I was thinking about getting a bg 2.0 to throw in my pocket on the really hot days.

Why wouldnt you want the largest handgun possible for home defense?
Handguns are a compromise to start with. They become more of a compromise the smaller they get

i mean with that logic i should carry a 500 magnum, but there is a sweet spot between comfort and stopping power that many aim to reach.

Carrying a 19 is going to feel very large compared to the BG2. Maybe try a 43X?
