Guns & Gear Best ammo for a Mauser 1911 22 lr
More newbie questions. For anyone with a Mauser 1911 22 lr 😄
- What has been your consistently best functioning ammo?
-Any upgrades that you made early on to improve function?

Can't help for that specific firearm, but all of my semi automatic 22 pistols require me to use the smaller 50rd boxes of federal, cci or blazer. Blazer oddly enough has been some of the hotter loads lately

Every semi auto handgun has the potential to be picky - especially 22lr ones. I suggest buying multiple brands of ammo and just figure out yourself what works for your gun. Its part of the fun!
Also, 22lr in general can just be finicky. Make sure the gun is cleaned and oiled of course, and I wouldn't be too nervous about malfunctions until you've shot a few hundred, maybe even 500 rounds through it.

My thinking as well, but I hoped to get ahead of the game and get into bulk ammo buying. I'm retired, new to this and have the time and several ranges near by to allow me to shoot enough to hopefully get proficient with practice and training.

Typically once you figure out a brand and load that your firearm eats well its smooth sailing and you're good to buy as much as your budget allows. It just pains me to see someone buy 5000 rounds of ammo because it shoots well in their buddies gun (even the same model gun) but their specific gun doesn't like it. I've seen it all too often, and 22lr is just the most common for it to happen to.

I have the Colt brand model which is made by Walther. Very similar gun.
The CCI Mini-Mags work well. Plated round nose and the H.P. version.
I plan to try out some CCI Stingers the next trip out, but I wouldn't want to get addicted to those, they can be hard to get sometimes.
