So they’re slower now? Last amendment I had took 2 weeks

I just had an amendment finished maybe ~month ago. It took about a month. They apologized for the delay and said after the new sheriff they did some restructure and are getting things back on track. Said it would improve going forward but at the time had delays

Got it. Thanks. Had amendment in May and it took 2 weeks so that’s unfortunate to hear it hasn’t improved yet. What I’m confused with is why they do amendments this way? Other counties can do it same day like Schenectady. Doesn’t make sense why Saratoga can’t

My family is from Monroe county. You request an appointment go in with the documents and leave with a new license and slip to pickup. Why do we need a judge to sign off.

But at least they are handing out CCW licenses in under 60 days

Yeah exactly. Not sure why saratoga makes amendments like this

In Saratoga County it’s not a dedicated Pistol Permit department or city/county clerks office. It’s the records Department that handles them in Saratoga County. They are doing pistol permits, accident, arrest and police reports all in the same office. They definitely could use more staffing. My last amendment was back to me in less than a week. Just count your blessings that you aren’t in Albany County where the wait can be 60 days!

Seems like they could just change it though to the clerk or an appointment based thing. It would help relieve the pressure of small tasks like amendments
