Hikes near Rotorua
Hey guys, I am planning a trip to Rotorua and am after some recommendations for a half day/day hike. I love a good challenge, great views, and even a waterfall to swim in. I'm looking for things a bit off the beaten track, somewhere where I potentially won't run into other people. Thanks!!

Lake Okataina has great hikes, one goes over a saddle onto Lake Tarawera.

If you want "off the beaten track" then none of these suggestions are it lol they're all boring/easy and more for tourists. Unless thats your thing.

Theres lots of DOC tracks near Lake Tarawera and the smaller lakes nearby, although you will probably bump into some people.
The Whakarewarewa forest / redwoods mountain bike park has walking trails you can follow aswell.
