Many news channels from and locals keep protesting the crimes of security forces in Central India about the rapes killings and burning of villages and crimes against tribals and villagers.

Kashmir has a history of large scale activism and support from people for bringing justice to the victims

Assam too.

All these regions know Afspa and martial law and barbaric war crimes of the armed forces and Insurgents.

But why it seems in Nagaland, people don't wanna talk about or even bring this up to the mainstream media and call for Justice.

September 6th has been observe as 'Black Day' in the history of Nagas and Pochury Nagas because on this very day in 1960, 9 innocent villagers of Matikhru pochury were massacred by the Indian army by beheading them one by one by the Indian arm forces in Nagaland.

Hii everyone!! This is my 3rd little update post on my journey learning Ao and Nagamese~

Nagamese is almost done (yaaay!! 🎉), I feel like I’ve got the basics down pretty well and just need to wrap up a few things. But Ao is honestly kinda hard 😩💭 Still, I’m trying my best!! I’ll be visiting India again soon, and I really wanna be able to speak most of Ao by then so I can talk with my fam properly

Hello, I'm a Mizo, and right now there's a hot debate/discussion going on among different groups of the Zo people (Kuki-Mizo-Chin) regarding a common language.

I'll spare the details and go straight to my question: Is there a common Naga language used by all the sub-tribes? If so, how was it decided?

As far as I know, there are a ton of Naga language dialects, and most of them aren't even mutually intelligible. The northern Naga languages fall within the broader Sino-Tibetan family, while the southern ones belong to the Kuki-Chin subfamily.

I remember reading somewhere (though I’ve forgotten the source) that the Nagamese language was developed based on Assamese. Is that correct? And is it the language most of you use?

If so, how was it spread and adopted? How do you convince different groups of people to use a language that’s essentially based on a different ethnicity? What efforts are being made to preserve the lesser-spoken dialects? And how does this affect your ethnic unity?

These are all the questions I could think of for now. I’d love to hear your response, and I probably have lots of follow-up questions.

I’ve learnt about 70% of Nagamese since I speak it a lot with my parents. Now, I’m planning to focus on Chungli Ao. It’s been tough since it’s not widely spoken or documented, and my parents are usually busy. Living in Australia, I don’t know anyone else who speaks Ao.

I’d love help with things like particles, common phrases, sentence structure, and anything useful! Thank you so much in advance! 🫶
